How long between diagnosis and surgery date?

How long after you received a diagnosis of ovarian cancer did your surgery occur?

Surgery is to remove ovaries and possible hyster.

My doctor doesn't seem to be in much of a rush and I am getting concerned.

Thanks.

How long between diagnosis and surgery date?

I was told I'd need surgery on a Monday and Thursday two weeks later I had it--as soon as he could schedule it.

Be sure that you are having a gynecologic oncologist do surgery.

It does take the surgery to diagnose ovarian cancer for sure--on what is your doctor make the diagnosis at this time?

How long between diagnosis and surgery date?

Like Ellen, I too had my surgery in about 2 weeks after diagnosis. It was the longest 2 weeks of my life but was filled with lots of beforehand testings.
Please make sure that an oncologist/gyne is performing your surgery.

How long between diagnosis and surgery date?

Hi D,
The time between my diagnosis and surgery was pretty quick! Although my endometrial cancer is considered slow growing, who knows at what point it would tip over to another grade or stage. My doctor was hoping that it would be a Stage 1A or 1B. I'm glad that it was done so quickly.

Good luck to you.

1-24-06 D&C, Complex hyperplasia with Foci of Grade 1
Endometrioid Adenocarcinoma
2-7-06 TAH-BSO Lymph Node Removal
Grade 1, Stage 1C
3-8-06 Start IMRT 28 treatments (Intensity Modulated Radiation)

s D

Please make certain the surgeon performing your surgery is a gynecologic oncologist. They are the only experts when it comes to performing a surgery when ovarian cancer is suspected.
I had my alarming ultrasound in mid April. At this time I also found out that my platelet count was one million!!
I then spent the next six weeks undergoing various test and procedures while they searched for another primary cancer site other than my ovaries. None was found and on May 31st I was finally debulked for ovarian cancer.
I hope you post again with more details about your situation.

How long between diagnosis and surgery date?

I saw the gyn/onc on 11/11/04 after my internist sent me for a CT scan on 11/05/04 and suspected OVCA. My surgery was originally sceduked for 11/22/04 which was the Minday of Thanksgiving week, my gyn/onc was supposeD to be on vacation but would do the surgery but becuase it was a holiday week it was hard to get OR time so I had my suirgery on 11/30/04 (my hubbies birhtday!), Plus my blood pressure had sky rocketed due to the ascites (i had 3 drainings - 3, 6 & 6 liters). so they also wanted to get the BP regulated with meds. So basically 3 weeks for me and tgey were the longest and worse 3 weeks of my life, worse than recovering form surgery and worse than 6 months of chemo.
