Pathology automatic?

Do the docs as a matter of course analyse the parts removed, so they can see if,say, a tumor was in fact cancerous, or if anything else had been going on a sonogram didn't identify? e.g. endo. I can see that it would make perfect sense, but just don't know if they do.

Pathology automatic?

I would ask your doc if all organs removed will be sent to pathology and let him know that you want them to be. I asked my doc and he said they always send everything. Each doc may be different though. Double-check just to be sure.

Pathology automatic?

Thanks shutterbug....good advice. It is on my ever-increasing list of questions to ask at pre-op

Pathology automatic?

I asked my doc pre-op, and he said he always does, but I understand that some doctors don't. It can't hurt to ask. I figured the more I knew, the less I would worry.

I know the list of pre-op questions can seem long, but, thankfully, no one ever made me feel like I was asking too many questions. As a matter of fact, both the doctor and the pre-op educator commended me for asking questions.

Pathology automatic?

as a general rule of thumb ,any and all tissue removed for any reason goes to pathology........But definately discuss this with your Dr.............At the hospital where I`m employed ;everything and anything goes to pathology ;but every place is different......best of luck to you during your surgery and recovery
