why is scheduling my surgery taking so long

I have been waiting since mid february for doctor to schedule my surgery. I decided on TAH at my last visit in February. They said they'll be in touch with me. I've called several times, still nothing, then the doctor himself told me, he's has an upset in his personnel and would get things straightened out this week. Still waiting to hear from them. Does it take a long time for the Doctors office to schedule and coordinate a surgery time with the hospital?

I hear you!

yeja! I so hear you! I saw my doc end of January and I'm still waiting to hear about a date. I called his office at the end of Feb. and the receptionist said I wasn't on the O.R. list for Feb nor March. And...the hospital doesn't call any earlier than 10 days before! How the heck can I arrange anything? I'm planning to call the office again beginning of next week in hopes they'll have the April schedule. I think its a matter of how much O.R. time the doc has and how many surgeries he has to do. That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. Sorry no advice but here's a and some .

Girls, the hospital's call should be to deal with check-in things. The surgery itself should be able to be scheduled MONTHS in advance though the time of day could change. Call again and get serious with someone in the scheduling department. Let them know that you cannot arrange to take six weeks off at only a few moments notice and that you must be put on the surgery scheudle as far in advance as possible. My hospital has allowed me to schedule mine for JUNE 2nd!!!

why is scheduling my surgery taking so long

when i saw my dr in dec, he told me that he was booked until the end of march. i then went to his secretary and she scheduled a date for me. i called and asked for an earlier date, and was told that unless there was cancellation, i would just have to wait. the office was very, very polite so i did not feel that i was being put off.

Here's some s for you ladies that are still waiting for a date.
I would call back the doc's office and ask that you be scheduled so you can plan. It can get very frustrating waiting on everyone else. They sometimes don't realize how much time has passed because it's not them that's doing all the waiting and dealing with all the pain and other 'stuff'.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks for your replies ladies. You are right, time to put my foot down and get things going. I have next Tuesday off, so I'll be on the phone then. PMS will be kicking in good then--seems that always helps--teehee! Gotta keep them ovaries !
You guys are great 's
