Reason

I had mine because of severe bleeding with fist sized clots and cramping getting worse each month. Also lasting longer (10-12 days) and coming closer together (after one would stop I would start again within two weeks). PCP said it was normal because I was getting older, gyno told me it wasn't normal, and since then endocrinologist has dx me with pcos.

Still a LIW

But my DD is doing mine because of endo and adeno. I also have a strong familial history (mother's side) of uterine cancer as well as breast cancer. I am almost looking at this as something of a preventative measure.

Reasons for Hyster.

I had my hyst. on May 2nd. for endometriosis and adenomyosis, both of which caused me severe pelvic pain for years. I'm hopeful life will get better once recovery is over!!

Reasons for Hyster.

I am now nine days post-op from a TVH. I had lots of huge fibroids, extremely heavy bleeding that seemed to never quit. My DD said that there was a lot of scare tissue in there as well. I was able to keep my ovaries, which I am happy about because of my family's history of Breast Cancer and osteo I want to watch how many of the meds with side-effects I take. I was down to having about two or three days a month that I WASN'T bleeding. Obviously, I was anemic, with a lack of energy that no one understood. I had a D&C in June 1998, but it just didn't do anything for me, nothing changed. The only reason that I put off the hyster for such a long time was because I had just started a new job and didn't have any way of financing my time off. (I still don't have that covered, but I just couldn't go on any longer!)

My only problems at day nine are, the family won't let me do ANYTHING (per the doctors instructions of course) and I am going nuts here with nothing to do and I want the swollen tummy and spotting to go away (how long will this last?).

All I can say is, "Thank God it's over"

Reasons for Hyster.

I was lucky. I did not have to undergo years of irreguar periods before I recognized a serious problem. After I had my daughter in 9/99 I breastfed; therefore, I did not have a period until mid 2000. 2 months after beginning periods again, I began to experience "heavy" bleading. I would soil my clothes after i just changed to a super tampon and a super maxi pad. I was slow to go to the doctor. I did not make an appointment until this year in April. During the exam she told me my uterus was tilted too far back to really do a thorough exam. i had a vaginal ultrasound. It revealed the problem. One fibroid that was over 3 inches in diameter. I had my hyster (kept the ovaries) May 7.

Thank you God and God Bless all women!!!!

Total hyst.

I'm going in for a total hyst. My doctor had found a fibroid tumor he said it wasn't very big but I also have had bad pap test results in the last 5 years.

He suggested that I should have a partial hyst. and that I wouldnt have to worry about my pap test results ever again. Also, he said that this would also help me feel better.

When my husband and I went to see him, we asked alot of questions, but before I ask the Dr. he had given me a ultimatium regarding my ovaries. He said that if I wanted to do this I could have my ovaries taken out as well. I thought that it sounded great because I was thinking that maybe in a few yrs or so maybe they would have to be taken out as well.

Do you think I am right? Please let me know.

My operation is on June 13th, .

Reasons for Hyster.

I checked fibroids because that and chronic pelvic pain were the main reasons for my hysterectomy, but the doctor discovered endometriosis on one ovary and tube and severe adenomyosis during surgery. So THAT'S why I had been feeling so bad for so long!

reason for hysterectomy

I was orginially told I had cysts on both ovaries that had grown larger. I never knew when my period would be. I figured at 47 I was not planning to have kids so I went to see a surgeron. When I woke up I was in for a surprise. My mom told me the doctor removed a tumor the size of a grapefruit from my left side. No cancer but I was not expecting it. Iwas however informed the day I was going home that I did have endometirical cancer, but it had not even gone into the uterus so I do not have to worry about anything. My mom asked me when I got home if I had any regrets about my decission and I told her no. I am glad I went through with it. I am now helping my girlfriend who also may have to go through this sometime this year. I am glad for this website and will pass it on to her.
