Belly Band Question
Hello, Everyone!
When I told a good friend that I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy next month, she encouraged me to visit your Web site.
I'm so glad that she did! It is wonderful! In the short time I have been lurking, I have learned lots.
I do have a question about the Belly Bands I see mentioned on these boards. The product description says that the band should be submerged in ice water before using.
For people who have used the band while still in the hospital, how have you managed getting a tub of ice water? As busy as nurses are (I know, I used to be one), I'd hate to ask one to fetch it for me. But I guess I'd have to.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Belly Band Question
Hi!
I wish I would have left mine dry, to just use as support under my clothes. Once it's wet, it never dries, well, I live in Hawaii. It was a mess for me, personally. I ended up making my own comfort. I sewed a pillow out of an old T-shirt in the shape of a whale tail. I inserted a pocket in the middle of the stuffing with a velcro closure. I cut my band. I put the cold, wet part in a ziploc bag and into my pillow pocket, and attatched the elastic bands to the tips of the "whale tail" pillow. NOW, it works great for me. I know you can't do this in the hospital, so maybe just use ice packs for the time being. The concept of the band is great, and alot of women love it, I had problems. Even the velcro on the band ripped off after the third use. But see, I'm the kind of person that everytime I ask for NO tomato on my sandwich (where ever I go), they always put tomato...it's just my luck like that. I just try to make the best of what I get. I tear my sandwich apart, and put it back together the way I like it! I wish you all the best!
Aloha!
