My Dr. said that they would take everything due to PCS. I was able to keep my ovaries since I had the ovarian veins embolized in Jan. of this year.

Did you have success with the vein embolizion? I had an MRV and he said that he would need to do another test on my veins. If my uro gyn goes in for a LAp. I was wondering if I should have heim take my ovaries and tie off the veins? How did they diagnois you thanks sue

Pelvic congestion syndorme

I just had a LAVH primarily for PCS, he left both ovaries, said that they looked healthy. I have read since that the ovaries should be removed to prevent reaccurance. I am a little hopeful that my tipped uterus was more the problem rather than the ovaries. Anyway, not much help here but had to chime in since PCS is not heard about very much.

Yes, I did have success with the embolization. I had an MRI (with and w/o contrast) in Dec. that showed the enlarged veins. This is how they diagnosed me. I also had another Dr. perform a lap. in Aug. that clearly showed PCS. My new Dr. wanted to try the embolization(out patient procedure) to see if it would help eliviated the load on the other veins. No luck. So I had the Hyst. My ovaries were spared since the ovarian veins can not swell up again (the IR placed coils into the veins to stop the flow). The interventional radiologist was very please with the embolization. The procedure was easy and easy recovery. He went through my jugular (small nick) since I needed to have both veins emb. (it is easier to go from the top down since there are many angles the veins make, thus top down makes for a obtuse angle and from bottom up makes for accute angles). I'm grateful for him and my Dr. for sparing my ovaries. Hope this helps.

What were your symptoms? I have pressure that gets worse when standing and pain on m left side and down my leg. If my doc goes in for a lap I am wondering if I should have him take the ovaries. I am 48 and dont want to go thru this agin. Thanks

I was having extreme pain prior to the hyst. pain was as you describe, except I was having contraction-like pain in the uterus. Dr. said at the time of my hyst. that the veins were HUGE. I am now having the pain going down the fronts of my legs, so early in my recovery that I hope it is just from surgery still. I am almost positive that I have a cyst on the right side, been having so much sharp pain this weekend. I am overwhelmed thinking I will have to have surgery to remove the ovaries now. I am probably ahead of myself, I have to talk to the dr. first!! LOL!

Sorry to but in, I find this topic very interesting. My uterus ended up being normal when my dr. was expecting Adeno, so I guess PCS was the only real problem!

Symptoms were cramping every day. Greater cramping around period. One fairly good week off a month. The veins were the size of a mans thumb when they should be pencil size.

As far as your ovaries, I would talk it over with your Dr. If you decide to do so, he may want to wait until the hyst. to remove them. I, personally, would try to save them first and see how you feel. If you had them emb. this month that would give your body almost 2 months of healing. If by then you are not feeling any better then there is always the option to have them removed during your hyst. This is just my opinion. You know your body better and know what you can handle. Hope your pain eases soon. Take care.
