Hematoma? Scared Of Surgery?

6 1/2 weeks post-op, had soooo much pressure and pain in lower pelvic area, hurt to move, hurt more to walk or go to bathroom, had bright red bleeding with this pain from 6 days after surgery (2/20/06 until my surgery). Dr. told me it was a hematoma and needed surgery. Had the surgery yesterday..just a few minutes in the actual OR, and back home 2 hours later. Woke up in recovery with the pain gone, it felt like heaven, I move, walk, and go to the bathroom much much better, except just for a little bit of abdominal tenderness, but ohhhhh the pressure and pain from that hematoma GONE. So please don't be afraid if this is going on with you. You will be so much happier, and feel so much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel like a new person.

Hematoma? Scared Of Surgery?

Thanks for the post. So glad your hematoma is finally gone. Hurrah!! My hematoma is under my incision and has been draining out of part of the incision for two and a half weeks now. My dr consulted with a colleague and they decided the best thing to do was seal it up with a plastic bandaid type thing over gauze and leave it alone for 10 days. No more messing, packing and poking at it for awhile. I realize now by all of you sharing your stories that hematomas can just take a long time to heal and it's not always a straight path to the end. I'm so happy for you and hope that the healing and no pain just keep keeping on. Hugs.

Hematoma? Scared Of Surgery?

I have another chronic illness and my doctor didn't want to put my body through the stress of another surgery, but sounds like the surgery would be less stressful than the months of waiting for this thing to reabsorb. I've been bleeding and in pain for a month now, and the latest ultra sound shows it's only half gone. Can you tell me what the surgery entailed. I'm very happy you are better.

hematoma surgery

First...I had a TAH BSO. My doctor went in through my vaginia..made a small hole where my cervix used to be and used irrigation fluid to flush out my hematoma and "cleaned out the area inside. because I had the bright red bleeding for so long, he said I probably had a "bleeder" and he found 2 of them and cauterized them. All total about 15 minutes in the OR with me asleep. Very quick and simple. bright red bleeding that far out of surgery is new blood where old blood is more dark red/brown and isn't right. If I had known this 5 weeks ago I'd had pressed to do it then, and save me alot of pain and bleeding. Hope you are all better soon. I'll keep you in my prayers.
