Cervical Adenocarinoma- 16 weeks pregnant

I just wanted to share my story, I am a mother of two girls, age 4 and age 2; I am 35 years old.
With the second pregnancy, I went in for my first check up at the Ob/Gyn, who happened to do a pap smear. It came back abnormal, with cancerous cells- adenocarcinoma in situ. My doctor told me I had to have surgery in 4 days to do a cone biopsy and perahps a hysterectomy, depending on what he found. Also, the chance of my baby surviving was very low. As a US citizen, I had been living overseas, so was not sure I was receiving the best advice. After countless hours on the internet looking for someone who had been faced with a similar decision, I decided that I needed to have the surgury. When I woke up in the recovery room, all I could say is my baby ok. It turns out she was fine, the surgery went well and I had clear margins. With the pregnancy, I continued to have ultrasounds every week to make sure my cervix was strong enough to hold the baby. Everything was fine and I delivered my child full term. She is my miracle baby and saved my life.
After the surgery, I moved back to the US where I delivered my child. i have continued to receive check ups every three months, with everything ok after 2 1/2 years. During this time I have received two different forms of advice; 1) to have a hysterectomy and 2) to be monitored closely. I am not ready to have the hysterectomy, but will continue to have check ups. i am considered having a third child, so will continue with my care throughout this process. I am thankful for the expert care I received, while I was pregnant, through the surgery and ongoing.
