Pilates....You Can't Do!

The doc told me I could resume pilates at 4 weeks. I am 5 weeks post op, tried to do my "Leslie Sansone Pilates You Can Do".......uhh, NO!. I went very slowly and with caution.... I am bummed, I could hardly do anything without my sides aching (where my incisions are). Now I have swelly belly also!. I was at a great level, thinking of trying an advanced version, before surgery.
Now I basically have to start all over......in who knows how many more weeks. *sob*

Pilates....You Can't Do!

{{{{katkins}}}} don`t be discouraged ,sweety.....I`m a certified Pilates instructor (part-time) and just started teaching an hr long class 2 weeks ago.......and even though I`ve been doing Pilates for 2 yrs(and worked for a little over a yr. to get my certification) you would think I was a beginner too...............Pilates is VERY INTENSE abdominal work(even at a beginner`s level) so give your self a big pat on the back for even starting to do Pilates after a hyster...........don`t worry.....you`ll get back to the level you were working at in no time....((((hugs))))) and good wishes ,Renee

Pilates....You Can't Do!

Katkins,

I also resumes Pilates at 5 weeks. I am doing Windsor and Denise Austin. They have a lady doing modified moves so I am with her for now. I just do what I can and stop. Each day I can do a little more. My doc gave me the okay for EVERYTHING at 5 weeks and I did too much and had a set back. Took me a week to get back on track. I am now 7 weeks post-op and feel really well. Good luck.

Pilates....You Can't Do!

I also have the winsor pilates, like ladyrain. The modified version would be a great way to get back into pilates. I had some complications with some additional surgery so I was having problems getting back into a routine everday workout, it was on and off again as restrictions were lifted then put back on etc. I finally got the restrictions lifted and not put back on at 6 months post op, so once released I was able to go back to pilates with no problems, just took off were I left off! I did go back to getting sore muslces but hey I could keep up. I did give up heavy weight training as that still aggreviates my pelvic region.....oh well! I do want to buy a weighted vest so I can do some lounges and squats and perhaps work on the trampoline with it! I actually just got off the trampoline and talk about some exercise that works the whole body at once and whew am I winded....zonked!

Pilates....You Can't Do!

Not Pilates but i am a regular exerciser, I was told i could return gently at 12 weeks- NO!!! I sort of managed a light work out but the next day I felt drained, not hurting but just so tired i can hardly explain to you. i left it another four weeks, it was like a warning to me. But now I am back and starting to build up again- it will come.
