Would swimming be ok and how soon?

I want to get into a exercise program and walking makes me swell SO BAD. I was wondering if swimming would be better. Has anyone tried it? I would think it would help support the belly. Two days ago I took the cat to the vet, went to Walmart and the Pharmacy and I am STILL paying for it. I was wondering if there is some other way to get exercise that wont make me look and feel so and exhausted. This is just awful and I am almost 1 month now.

Would swimming be ok and how soon?

Hi, I want to know the same thing. I called the Dr. the other day and asked the nurse about a bath and she said to wait until the Dr. cleared me. Two weeks is just too soon for everthing to be "healed" up in there yet. I assume when I'm cleared for the bath that swimming will be allowed, but I will be checking when I go in on the 18th for my next check up. I too, want to get out there and do something to make myself feel like I'm "working out" again without hurting after I do it! Good luck and let us know what you find out. I know every doc is different, but it's nice to hear what others are being allowed to do! Makes me jealous in some cases....

Good luck!

swimming

I had a TVH etc. on Mar. 27th. I have a wonderful Dr. who said no baths for 3 weeks. I trust her and believe she is being cautious about not getting an infection. I feel great and my bladder is finally working, probably no more catheters as of today. Now I'm peeing every 2 hours, oh well, that's better than 2 teaspoons full. My Dr. said walking in moderation is fine. Good luck

Would swimming be ok and how soon?

My doctor allowed baths at 2 weeks, but no swimming or hot tubs until 6 weeks. I'm leaving tomorrow morning to visit my son in Arizona, who has a pool and a hot tub, and I'm going to call today and see if he will make an exception. I don't see where a few days would make much difference, but I'll be good if he says no.

Maybe water aerobics would be a good exercise program. However, you are still pretty early in recovery, so I wouldn't start anything without asking your doc first.

I'm 5 weeks now and I have noticed that I'm not swelling nearly as much when I'm active now. My doc told me it takes at least 3 months for it to go away.
