I'm sorry you are still hurting...

What you had is called a laparoscopic supracervical hyst--or an LSH as we call it here. I had one and so have many other women who have posted here.

An LSH is considered to be the least truamatic kind of hyst. Some docs will even tell you that it's practically not even surgery, and that you can recover in a day or 2. I certainly didn't!

We all heal differently! And, you've just had a major organ removed from your body. Even without the large incision, your body is still going to feel bruised and abused.

It sounds like you should call your doc and let them know what is going on. They may want you to come in to make sure you are healing properly. Some docs are more "generous" with pain meds than others. Many docs fear that you will become dependent, and they don't want to be responsible for that. But, you should know that *most* people who take pain meds after having a painful procedure done do *not* abuse them or become dependent on them.

I know that it's hard to ask for more pain meds. But you really do need to call your doc's office and let them know that you are still in quite a bit of pain.

Good luck to you, and I hope you feel better soon.

Get the drugs!! I took percacets for almost 2 weeks afterwards - cut them into 1/2 tabs during the 2nd week cos I found them too strong. Anyway, there's no sense in suffering when pain relief is available.
You've had MAJOR surgery - don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
My recovery is taking longer than anticipated, but as smargie mentioned, everyone heals differently.

Take it slow. Take care of yourself.
Cheer & big hugs,

Tina-
I would definitely talk to your doctor. First, you needn't suffer with pain, there is medication that should take care of that. You had major surgery even though it was done laparscopically. Second, your doctor may want to check to see if something else is going on. After my LSH, I was having a lot of pain after 7-8 days, and my doctor sent me for blood work to make sure everything was okay since it wasn't within the range of "normal". My blood tests came back fine. I had had an IV infection at the hospital that was causing a lot of systemic pain, so that much of my problem. But like one of the sisters said, we all heal differently, so PLEASE, call your doctor and take care of yourself. You can't heal properly when you are in pain. Take care-

Hi {{{sister}}}} I too had an LSH and had pain off and on well after the Dr. said I should be having NO pain......first of all,I agree with the other sisters, less invasive or not ;we still parted with an organ and it is still MAJOR surgery..............we all heal differently too so don`t let ANYONE(not even your DR.) say you shouldn`t have pain ............if you have pain ,you have pain!!!! YOU and only YOU know your body...........definately get on the horn to your Dr. and tell him how you feel; I did and my Dr. did what CallieKItten`s Dr. did ;he took blood to make sure there was no SECONDARY infection...............there wasn`t and it put my mind at ease.........after a while (I`m 3 months post-op) the pain got less and less....Please keep us posted as to how your doing okay??? A {{{{hug}}}} for u and some good wishes ,Renee

Anyone just had ONLY uterus removed HELP!!

I too had a LSH, mine on March 2nd. I'm healing OK now, but I'll say that it was far from a week and back to work. I didn't go back to work full time until week 5. I did two off work, two 3 hr days on week three, part time on week 4 and full on week 5. I did have a fair amount of pain, after about week 1 1/2 I over did it a few times, so I may have caused some additional un-needed pain, but still, I took percacets untill week 3 1/2. Don't wait, you feel better with the pain meds, and they allow you to walk around more, and that prevents back pain, clots, and other soreness. Hang in there, it gets way better in just a few more weeks. Chin Up.

Me again...

Some women who have had problems getting more pain meds from their Gyn, since they "shouldn't be in pain" , have gone to their primary care docs for more meds. If the doc who did your surgery is a jerk about it, you might want to try that. As ms kitty points out, if you're in pain, you're in pain! And I agree with Julie--healing takes a lot longer when you are hurting so much.

Good luck to you, and come back to us if you need more encouragement.
