hormone level help

I am about 3 months out from a tah-bso and am like alot of other, trying to get the hrt right. I started out with the climara patch, went well for about 3 weeks then it wore out by day 4.

I was switched to premarin pill .625 and it was going great, I liked taking it each day with my supplements so it was easy for me. I always knew, too, that I was getting my dose.

About 2 weeks ago I began having really awful hot flashes, ringing in the ears, anxiety and digestive problems. I called in and got my dose upped to the .9 which went well, the hot flashes went away along with some of the other stuff.

I went in for my mammogram and pap and my dr noticed I was warm. No temp, just flushy and sweaty. He upped the dose to the next level 1.25 and now I just feel so aggitated. I feel puffy and irritable. Borderline headachy.

Anyone have any suggestions, it's only 2 days on the highest dose. Should I go back down to the .9 and see if I feel better? I hate to call back in as I was just there.

It sounds like the 1.25 might be too high for you. If you felt better at the lower dose, maybe try staying there for a while and seeing if you find your balance there.

Hope it works!

All the best,

I don't know. I am only a week out and am taking 2mg of Estradiol. Does anyone know if that is a large amount of Estradiol?

Hi doll doc!

I think it would make sense to stay at the .9 level longer than the two weeks you were on it. It takes time for any hormone therapy to reach optimum levels. The goal is to use the lowest dose that provides you with symptom relief and keeps you feeling balanced.

Donna, 2mg of estradiol isn't considered a large amount--certainly not if you feel well at that level. We're all different and some of us need more estrogen than others.

Thank you, I just could not find anywhere what sort of dosages were given. I know it has only been since April 4 when I had my surgery but it seems the last few days I am been a little weepy. Could be the anthesia too...I will say over all...I FEEL MUCH BETTER!

Hi! Decided to go back down to the .9 as I was having tension headaches and dizzy spells that lasted only a second, but really made me feel yucky. I had just filled a three month presc. for the .625 a week before all the hot flashes, have a 6 week supply of the .9 and a 2 week supply of the 1.25!!! If the .9 is the right dose, I'll have lots of pills I can split, figure out dosage and keep me on my right level for a long time before going back to the pharmacy!

Still feel much better than I did prior to the surgery!! So glad I had it!

I am so glad I had it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is day 9 and I feel really great today! I am dressed...I have my make up on and my hair done. Amazing how wonderful that will make you feel! I am not going to over do it....I don't want to regret it tomorrow! I cannot wait to get on with my life! I have been in pain since I was 14 and now I am 41. It is funny how you just get used to having a crappy life. Most ususally I was lucky to have 2 good weeks a month...one week usually gearing up for the period and then I almost always had a full 7 days of it. Was getting to where I needed 2 weeks to gear up for it and then having it which was leaving me 1 good week. I know things are not going to be perfect...but they will hopefully be more smooth and not so up and down! Not to mention the migraines I started getting after turning 40...they came right along with Aunt Flo and they stayed for 3 days....bad!
