A few ?'s about TVH (child metioned)

Hi Ladies,

What is the average recovery time for a tvh - My doc says 4-6wks and she'll be stating 4wks on the paperwork she needs to fill out. I know this may sound silly but I would rather have her put 6wks, reason being I would rather go back early than to request for more time. KWIM? I also know she said it would be a tvh but at my last pap smear and pelvic check my gp asked if I delivered by csection when I delivered by vagina but only had 1 child and that was 25 yrs ago. Also, sometimes when wearing tampons it felt like they didn't go in all the way or that they fit correctly. I just have some have some concerns about having the tvh

I have 5 1/2 weeks to go and my mind is just going crazy with the wait. between all the worrying and crying hopefully I'll survive

((( Liz ))), it sounds like you have some questions and concerns that you need to dicsuss with your dr. I found that by making a list and adding as I thought of new questions, I didn't forget any when I saw my dr for pre op.

You sound normal to me about the wait being hard - I was very emotional during my own wait. It did get better after my pre op and I was pretty calm the day of my surgery.

A few ?'s about TVH (child metioned)

Liz-

I too made plans for the full six weeks after my TVH. I am three weeks out now and still find myself getting sore and tired if I do too much. I doubt I could do a full day of work and still have strength for the family in the evening.... we come first. My doc had no problem signing the paperwork for six weeks, I explained that I have no option of half days and that I have to drive and sometimes lift children.

My cousin (her name is Liz too) had a tvh last year and only stayed out four weeks, she was adamant that I needed the six as her job is a desk job and she wished she had stayed out. Other people I know have been fine earlier.

I stopped wearing tampons about a year ago due to discomfort and cramping. Even though I had two vaginal births penetration was painful. NO PROBLEM with the TVH. Just address your concerns with the doc.

I scheduled my visit to the castle four months out so I obsessed for a long time! At least I was thoroughly prepared when the time came!

Good luck!
