Hormones - post op

I am 6 days post op as mentioned previously. Just a question. I have 1 ovary left and I am wondering how long it would take for my body to shows signs of hormonal imbalance. I had a severe one before surgery and I am hoping the surgery has corrected that but just in case any help would be appreciated. Also what kinds of signs should I be on the look out for? Depression, hot flashes, mood swings??
Thanks

i had hormonal problems b4 my hyst, pmdd and was on hrt to help (climara .05mg), it did help but not a cure. since my hyst i was put on 0.1mg climara patch and i feel great hormonally. you want to watch for hot flashes, mood swings, depression, cold flashes and i can't think of anyting else LOL. anyway glad you haven't experienced any of those things and hopefully you won't.

Each of us are unique individuals so it will depend on you and your ovary on how you will feel hormonally. Some of us had issues as our ovary or ovaries took a little after our hyst so we basically had some surgical menopause until they got back on the job. Other ladies had more compliant ovaries that continued to function normally so they only experienced typical PMS when their ovaries ovulated. Still other finds that their PMS decreased after they hyst.

You can keep track of any symptoms you do have and talk to your dr if they become unbearable. Best wishes to you!

More than anything, I'm just bumping this thread to the top so I can watch what everyone else has to say about their hormonal experiences after your hyst!!

I am 24 days post op and started having some overly emotional moments about a week ago, and have had hot flashes for the past couple of days/nights, some night sweats. Blanket on.....blanket off.....repeat frequently. lol, I feel like a set of directions on the back of a shampoo bottle! I am planning on waiting until my 6 week check up before checking with my doc on her opinion on what, if anything, to do, figure I at least need to give things a little more time to regulate and get back to normal, right? I had a TVH, kept both ovaries, but had a cyst removed from the left one - would I have these symptoms if one ovary was working?

Just let me say, though, this is a very small price to pay, and in NO WAY do I regret having my TVH!!! Just a bit annoying.......

I kept my ovaries, but for the first 10-12 days postop, I had drenching night sweats every night, zero short term memory, and wild mood swings. Then it completely went away on day 13, and instead I got premenstrual bloat! Yippee. (Pre-nothing bloat is more like it). Anyway, it's common for your ovaries to take a while to start functioning again after surgery, and a small fraction of women never recovery their ovarian function. I'm not sure how long you should wait to see.

give it a little time....anestesia can also cause sweats..mimmicking hormonal imbalance. they can stay in your system up to 30 days....if you still have hot flashes after 30 days, talk to your dr.
