Outcome from SEVERAL CONES/CIN111....Please Help!
Hello! It is my first time posting....I am so happy I found this site with so many women going through similar situations..
I have CIN111 and had a deep Leep Cone 3 weeks ago and my Oncologist called saying that I need to have a more invasive surgery again because there are still cells up in the endocervical canal and I am not sure if uterus.
I do not have the biopsy results from the Cone and I am praying that it will not be CIS.
I am so scare, 34 and I do not have any kids. It is the first time that I have a gynecological problem and I feel so lost.
What are the outcomes of having several CONES surgeries???
Will I be able to get pregnant?
Thank you

Hi--I can't answer your question (whether or not you can get pregnant depends on so many variables!) but I will say that there is a surgery called a trachelectomy, I believe, that would preserve your ability to carry a pregnancy. You should ask your doctor about it; he or she would be able to tell you if it is an option in your particular case.
Good luck to you!

Outcome from SEVERAL CONES/CIN111....Please Help!
I hope everything works out well for you--one of the worst aspects of this journey is the "not knowing" part...there is so much difficult waiting, more or less in the dark. I would tell you not to be scared, but I know that's easier said than done. Do a search on this site for trachelectomy, browse through the resource section, but most of all, see if you can corner your oncologist for a chat BEFORE your surgery so that if fertility-saving methods of surgery are appropriate for you, he or she can use them.
Again, good luck.

Hi Hellohere ,
Definitely discuss with your doctor options that would best preserve the integrity of your cervix while at the same time completely remove the dysplastic cells. My doctor made it clear to me that they would not do a second LEEP if preserving my fertility were an issue. A proceedure called a cervical cerclage can be done in women who have an incompetent (weak) cervix, or who have previously had a LEEP or cone. A cerclage is where the doctor will sew the cervix closed during the first trimester of the pregnancy (think along the lines of a drawstring purse...or a Glad trash bag.. ) You can get more information about the cervical cerclage here: http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pre...lcerclage.html
I'm so sorry we have to go through this. It isn't any fun, is it?

Hello Spiritmaiden and Lori:
Thank you for your replies....it helps to see that you are not alone..:-)
Lori what threatment was your doctor going to do instead of the Leep to preserve fertility? And did he said why not the leep?
I checked the cerclage and I know for sure I will need this if I hopefully ever get pregnant after all this........thanks for the link...

Hi Hellohere,
Sorry, I'm not sure what other options there would have been. I'm 52, so fertility wasn't an issue. By removong tissue during the LEEP, the cervix becomes weaker and unable to maintain the pregnancy through term.
Good luck...
Lori
