Word is getting out about here...!
I had fever and chills... called the dr. like you guys said to.. dh and Mom said so as well. Doc said go RIGHT now... so I did.
I told the Triage nurse about us here, and he wrote it down... I told him what a pleasant, supportive and OHHhhhh so informative, the resources here are as intensive as you need them to be. At least I think I said all of that lol.. I was not feeling well.
I was immediately in.. I mean I waited maybe 10 minutes. You guys, that has to tell ya something about running a temp after our surgeries! Plus the Doctor (who was fantastic) came right in, .. and got me started, and kept checking on me. Did a CT scan, and silly me have pancreatitis.. (sp?) I don't drink... I have no reason for getting it. But I did, and got antibiotics... I fell better than I have since this whole ordeal has started. I feel like, saying to myself, 'oh there you are...' ya know what I mean?
I told the doc @ the hospital as well.
Here is TMI so you can quite here, but I think it is important. After the antibiotics kicked in, I had diarrhea... absolutely the worse case. And it was like coffe grounds..
It was the infection leaving! yipee I I was thinking! And now.... I can handle this.
At 3 days short of 4 weeks, and at last I fell like i am taking steps FORwaRD!! yeaaah!
thanks for here... I have said it a million times, and I will tell eveyone who needs to know about us.. they could learn more here than in school about it!

karenann--i'm glad you are feeling better.
Tami--I think you should call the doctor. I think if you have pancreaitis like karen you'd be in pain? kind of like upper right side of your abdoman. Karen didn't say if she had pain...my brother is going thru this...and it's a burning kind of pain..with a low grade fever...he had to take antibiotics...and he's also taking prilosec...(that's for ulcers). Weird though, both karenann and my brother don't drink, yet they got this infection...I also think they can check pancreatic enzymes with a simple blood test....but, in any case, call the doctor.

Tami,
Fri. I didn't even check it, ya just know.. I knew it was low grade. But sat. it was hovering around 102. I took Motrin, and would get sweaty, shower... and it would start all over again. I really think you should just go check it out.. they were waaay to interested in making sure to find out why I had a temp. for you not to just go make sure. I sure hope you are feeling better!
AnnRuthie,
It sure did hurt! But I have had a UTI, and have been on anti-b's twice before this, so evvvverything was hurting..lol,
I really couldn't distinguish one thing from the other. My whole middle hurt.
Am sorry to hear about your brother.. I sure hope he is doing better. A blood test is how they found out for me as well, the CT scan was I think to make sure my surgery part was OK....(?)
Thanks so much.! oh yeah, and I am taking a prilosec like tablet too, and it really seems to be helping.
Countrycharmer,
OH my goodness! I sure hope he is better as well! Thank you for that, I am trying to do what I can to take care of it. did they tell him to drink a lot of water, or not eat somethings?
The first thing I asked , 'was isn't that the thing that makes surgar?' She explained the whole insulin thing to me. wow, I am sorry about that.
Thankfully, mine is not so bad... I just want to do something to make it not get bad, and don't know what!
Take care, and thank you!
I noticed how many errors in spelling and such in my post.. sorrry.. can I blame it on the medicine? lol
Thanks for everything ya'll, I think I will head over to the pre-op, and see if there is anthing I can do there.

karenann--my brother is on the road to recovery, i think...there's now issue with his gallbladder, but, i think he's going to get surgery for that....i guess the gallbladder isn't as important as the pancreas. Yeh, prilosec is a great little pill...i too take it but for ulcer and acid reflux...i have to say, if i don't take it i suffer.
countrycharmer--i sure hope that your grandfather is better, or getting better.
Take care everyone.

my grandfather has made a full recovery but they called in the family twice on him. as we didnt expect him to come through. but he sure looks terrible now. very thin and pale. it took alot out of him. he is insulin dependant. I know my cousin said the first patient she lost was a pancrititus patient. and she said its very very painfull to see them hurting like that. my dad is actually who saved him. he was on the road with him and grandpa thought he had the flu and dad took him in to the hospital and they found it and said that if dad hadnt taken him in he wouldnt be here today. but man i tell ya it sure is scarry!
