Pathology Report

Can someone recommend a link that will have medical definitions for multiple foci of adenomyosis, squamous metaplasia, secretory phase endometrium, etc. Pathology terms, I am sure they sound a lot more intimidating than thier definitions. Thanks so much.

OOPS!

Sorry ladies, I thought that I was posting on the post-op message board. I would be glad for any info you might have though. Thanks so very much and sorry about the goof-up.

Pathology Report

Here are a couple of sources that I use to research things:

(1) www.aj.com (Ask Jeeves)
Type in your question, something like "What is squamous metaplasia?" then click on the "Ask" button and you should get several sources to check out for answers. Quite often you get many sources.

(2) http://www.mayohealth.org/home?id=SB00023
Mayo Clinic home page.

Good luck!

Pathology Report

There is a brief pathology dictionary "stuck" to the top of the Cancer Concerns board, but off the top of my head (and remember my head is )

These terms pretty much mean that throughout the uterus there were lots of different spots (multiple foci) of an abnormal thickening of the lining that had grown into the fibers and muscles of the uterus (sort of endometriosis of the uterine muscle--adenomyosis). Some of the cells were not normal--they looked like square scales (squamous) and there were way too many of them (metaplasia). You were at a particular phase of your menstrual cycle (secretory phase endometrium. If the "etc." aren't covered in the Cancer Concerns dictionary, let me know and I'll add them.

Hope this helps.
