Four weeks today!

It's hard to believe that it's actually been four weeks since I went to the castle! I think I'm having a great recovery. I still get tired easily, but haven't had much pain at all for a couple of weeks. I've not had any incision pain ever and you can hardly see my incision. I'm still waiting to see if it just hasn't woken up yet or what!?!

I'm slowly starting to do more things - unload/load the dishwasher, switching laundry, folding clothes, etc. - but I'm careful about lifting and try not to overdo things. The past few nights I've woken up hot and sweaty, so that's a new perk I hadn't encountered before. I'm hoping it doesn't last long!

I don't go back to work until May 22. I'll be there for the last week of the school year. My principal asked if I'd rather not come back and just start back up in August. I hadn't even considered it, but now I'm wondering if it might be a good idea. I've seen so many state that we only have one chance to recover and that's really sticking in my mind. I know the last week of school will be a doozy - taking down all bulletin boards, packing things up, etc.

I hope my 4 week sisters are also starting to feel good, as we continue down the road to recovery!

Four weeks today!

Hi iteach
I also teach and I took off 10 weeks after my SAH. I think you'll only be about 6 or 7 weeks by the time you are due to go back, so my advice would be to just stay home. You could always go in one day to say good bye to the kids. Is your supply teacher doing the report cards? Mine did the March set with some help from me. Do you have to clear out of the building by a certain day? Or could you go in after the kids are all gone and pack up quietly and slowly - of course with some help with the boxes and b.boards. . .
I really took it easy during my recovery and now at 4 months post op, I'm feeling pretty well back to normal. I was totally exhausted the first week back - it was not fun at all.
Do what you think is best, but you really do only have this one chance to recover well. Think of it as a well-deserved LONG summer break!!

Time flies doesn't it. I don't know what you will decide to do but I believe I would just wait till the new school yr started, since the boss man made you the offer. Even more time to heal sounds good to me. I think I could enjoy the extra time off.

Glad to hear you're doing well. Keep up the good work.

Four weeks today!

Hi Paula,

That's terrific you're having a great recovery!! I hope it continues that way for you. Try not to over do it since you are feeling so well. I wouldn't go back to school if it was going to be physical work. Why take the chance?

Take Care!
