Does progesterone act as a diuretic?

Have done some reading on progesterone that says it can counter act some of the fluid retention that estrogen replacement can cause.

Anyone have any experience with this? Better or worse?

Thanks for your input

Does progesterone act as a diuretic?

Funny thing about progesterone... if you're estrogen dominant, then yes, a little progesterone can act to reduce fluid retention. However, too much progesterone relative to estrogen will actually cause you to retain more water.

Does progesterone act as a diuretic?

Yes, I think that "balance" is the key word here.

There is so much to deal with in trying to get balanced again.

Does progesterone act as a diuretic?

Hello! I added USP progesterone cream along with my Viville Dot because a few weeks after surgery I was suddenly "puffy"....fingers and face. Feeling so well with that estrogen dosage (mentally clear, no more hot flashes, no mood swings) I hesitated lowering the dot...so added the Progest cream. Within a day of adding 1/4 Tsp of Menocream I piddled like a race horse and have not had edema since! In addition to it being a diuretic for me..it is also very sedating, I apply right before going to sleep. The 1st day I put it on in the daytime...was in "LaLa land" that afternoon!
