Fellow 3-weekers: How are We?

HI all. I'll be three weeks in a few days from TAH-LSO. I'm sleeping fine - no problems there. I do have a small hematoma above my incision that I'm keeping heat on, but I am told it should dissolve on its own soon. My bowels are pretty much back to normal, but with a heavy sensation when I'm at the very end of urinating. At first I thought maybe it was a UTI forming, but I think not. No burning really. My incision is good. Dr. took the surgical tape off at my two week appointment and only one little area is open a bit. I'm keeping it clean, but not covered. I'm back at work 1/2 days this week. I have pretty much a desk job, with a comfy chair, so that's worked out fine. Overall I have no complaints. Life is busy but I'm soooo glad to be on this side of the surgery. Every day is a little better. This site has been a great comfort and source of info. Have a great day!

Fellow 3-weekers: How are We?

I'm so happy to be at the 3rd week!! It seems I'm on the road to recovery now. I was doing alot of bleeding and now that is subsiding. Still have to wear a pad. But now I'm not seeing red thank goodness!! I've been sleeping great, but I take tylenol pm's everynight. The Dr. said that was fine. I dont take any naps during the day anymore. I do get tired but I just rest a little, but dont sleep. I drove my car for the first time monday. I went to pick up my kids from school. And I went to the Dollar Store. It's not as big as Wal Mart, so it wasnt to bad. I just went in an bought one thing. lol...but made me feel as if I had accomplished something! When I was at the Dr. last week he said it was fine to do light housework. Even some laundry, as long as I wasnt carrying around the laundry baskets. It makes me feel good to be able to do that stuff, since that is my job because I'm a stay at home mom. So it makes me feel like life is getting normal again. I get my dh to carry the clean clothes to my bed and sit on the bed and fold them, and then he puts them away for me. He's so sweet!! I've been doing a little cooking. Not much, just stuff I can throw in the oven, but that makes me happy! I had 2 wonderful days sunday and monday, but yesterday i was really tired. And today seems like I'm kinda tired or lazy, lol....Oh and dh is getting really anxious about sex. I feel so awful for him, lol...We have always had fun in the bedroom with each other, so I have helped him along here and there, but now it seems I would just like him to not even get to close because I dont want to think about it. lol...I think the closer we are getting to know we are gonna be able to "do it" I'm getting more nervous. But I'm trying to have an open mind to things might be some different but I love dh and I know we will still have fun. Darn, writing a book here, lol...Anyway, I'm hoping by 6 weeks that things will be even better!! just think girls, we are halfway there!!

Fellow 3-weekers: How are We?

Hello fellow 3 weekers!

I have had alot of changes in the past couple of days. I seem to be much more tired. This may be because I've suddenly started having the insomnia. I've also become more weepy. I'm crying for no reason. And I have also started having short periods of time when I feel too warm. (So its layers for me now.) The other thing that bothers me is that during week 2 all I could think about was sex! I couldn't wait to get the go ahead and thought I would never last 6 wks. Now I don't want to have anything to do with it. I am begining to feel like I just don't care if I ever do it again. And I've begun to withdraw from hugs and such even from the kids. I had 1 ovary removed because the Dr. said once he was in there he could see it was a mess. Now I'm wondering if the other one is even going to work.

I also have a wierd feeling when urinating. Mostly at the end and it also feels like a pulling. Called my Dr. and he said there are stiches behind my bladder and that it was normal and would slowly go away as things heal.

Sorry to ramble on. But It's so great to have somewhere to go to vent where others understand.

I love hearing how everyone is doing. It means so much to hear from people going through the same things! I'm still really tired most of the time. I've gone out and I've followed the rules (no pushing carts, no heavy lifting) but anything seems to wear me out. I have some insomnia but my daughter is home from college and we have been having late night movie marathons. At this point, I can nap whenever I need to. This will all change when I have to return to work! I am still more sore than I would like to be. I am also having the bladder issues. I've experimented with some slight Kegel exercises but that makes the soreness even worse.
Mainly I'm trying to rest and pamper myself although I do get impatient. Hang in there girls. We are going to feel so much better in just a few more weeks!

i hadn't had a hot flash prior to surgery. so i wasn't quite sure if that was what i was having? i called the dr office with my question & my dr called me soon after. she upped my dose on my clamira patch from 0.5 to 1.0. so far so good!
there seems to be quite a few things that i don't remember my dr discussing with me about post-op.

i am so grateful for this website!

i just needed to shout
i had the normal BM this morning!!!
a first, i am so excited. ((so weird, huh?))

i've just read my 3wk check points.
there is so much info there.
if you've not read those, you should!!!
good info on there regarding why we shouldn't jump the gun & give into our/their desire for early sex!!!!!
i believe it was easier to wait after having my c-sec 21yrs ago. becuz i had a baby to care for.
THERE IS NO BABY THIS TIME! (thank god for that)
so i will be a good girl & wait.

time to get off my butt & go for a walk!
have a great day everybody!

Sorry to hear about your insomnia.... I had it before my TAH where I would wake up 4-5 times a night and not be able to go back to sleep. But since my hyster, I have slept the whole night through

I am back to driving now, and also working a little, 15 hours a week as a librarian, where I can sit down as much as I need. I work 2 days a week and then have the rest of the time off.

My incision is healing quite nicely and although it itches, there is very little pain with it. The scar is quite sensitive so I have to be careful of the clothes I wear.

Fellow 3-weekers: How are We?

Hello ladies!

I'm feeling like many of you too. I'm sleeping okay but do tend to wake up around 3:30 and sometimes have a little difficulty getting back to sleep. This morning was one such time. Of course I fell back to sleep really soundly about 30 minutes before I had to get up and get my dds going for school!

Monday I joined my girlfriends at the dog park for our regular walk for the first time. I only did part of our usual circuit and it felt pretty good. I was wiped out afterward and took a nice nap that afternoon. My dogs sure enjoyed the outing!

Last weekend my dh was out of town on business and we really needed some groceries. I waited until my 12yo could go with me so she could lift all the heavy things and push the cart. Of course she doesn't have as much "cart management" experience as I do and she kept leaving it in the middle of the aisle and the store was busy. I did forget and moved it a few times. I had some twinges afterward.

I was fortunate to not have any vaginal bleeding afterward. I had a little spotting the first week, that's it.

Today I'm crampy and twingy. Yesterday I broke another rule and vacuumed a little. We have all hardwood floors so I figured I wouldn't have much resistance. I don't recommend anyone else do it! I just couldn't stand the dog hair dust bunnies and crumbs on my kitchen floor.

I had the extreme horniness last week a couple times. It was weird! I haven't felt like that in years. I was hoping it would last too. Dh deserves a ***** wife after all he's put up with for the past few years!

Hot flashes are hitting pretty regularly too. I had everything removed and am not doing hrt because of the endo. They haven't been unbearable, just annoying. Of course last night was my 3rd grader's music program at the school. That gymnasium got pretty warm by the end of the hour and one struck! I thought I was going to pass out.

Hello, I am new and a 3-weeker. My doctor has already sent me back to work (desk job). Sitting here wishing I could go home for afternoon nap. Pantyhose rolled down to below hips and heating pad on back and fluffy pillow to sit on. Never knew working on pain meds could be so...spacey!!

3 weeks like butter

3 weeks today and could be a poster girl for this procedure, all could change after seeing doctor at post-op check up tomorrow, haven't taken any pain pills, no gas issues, three half-inch incisions (sp) are totally healed. Doing stairs, driving, sleeping with maybe a wake up once in the night, but not to use the bathroom. Some bladder leakage, really hoping that goes away, maybe more Kegels, folding laundry, groceries, NO VACUUMING, NO SWEEPING,NO MOPPING, planning to return to work next week. Haven't checked out the sex yet, but can say the desire to is strong. So is there something wrong with me to be having so positive an experience, wishing everyone an uneventful recovery and just great health here on out!!!
