I was just going to ask this question. Have you had your two week appointment yet, or an appointment since surgery? My first thought is if they found something very bad they would ask you to come in before you scheduled appointment. I only say that because that is what happenned to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had my ovaries biopsied right during surgery, and they told my family everything was fine there, but I'm curious to know if they biopsy other things outside of surgery. I'm not sure.

Well I was out of the hospital the friday after surgury and went to my family dr on the tues only one week after. She said no news yet. Last year when i had cervical cancer the gyn "misplaced" the papers and forgot to call and set up the appointment for the biopsy so i am sure you can undrestand the worry about the reports. I really try to be positive but is very hard sometimes. My ovary had doubled in size in 10months whenever i asked the dr about that they kinda give me a pat on the head and a blank look. I go back to the gyn the end of may I guess i can wait that long

I got the report at my one week follow up appt. I was told I also had endometrosis (sp). I thought the painful periods were normal and that i had inherited them from my mother she always had pain and heavy flow. I guess you put up with a lot when you think it's hereditary..I sure did.

For me, they did frozen sections right there in the O.R. to rule out cancer. The pathology report was done post operatively, in a path. lab, and included a detailed examination of everything they removed surgically. I think how long the results take depends on where you are - I'm in Victoria, B.C. and my pathology report was ready 8 days post-op.

And I want to reinforce what someone has already mentioned - ask your doctor to give you a photocopy!!! You are entitled to it. It will be in technical, medical jargon but you can look up anything you don't understand on the internet. Because I have a copy of my report to refer to, I have a much better understanding of exactly what was going on than I would have if I'd just had a verbal summary from my doctor.

I got mine the day after surgery, while I was still in the hospital. I asked for a copy of it at my two week appointment. If they were concerned about cancer, they would do a frozen section during the operation itself and have that initial report when you woke up, but they should have the report on what they take out within a few days in most major hospitals.

I am planning to ask for them at my 4-week apptmt. this coming Monday. I will post what they tell me, if they can't just give them to me then. HAPPY RECOVERY!

yes, about the cancer...my first surgery..the ablation...they specifically were ruling out cancer/checked for cancer and did a frozen section adn told me the resutls when I woke up . Also soem clinics and hospitals have services to explain reports in lay terms. I have had that done. I always get hospital adn surgery adn path reports.

I was told the results at my 2wks post op appt. It's been long enough now that you could just call the Dr's office and ask. If the nurses don't want to tell you anything, have them to have your Dr give you a quick phone call between seeing patients. Tell them to let the Dr know that you will only take a minute of his time. I'm guessing too, that if the Dr was concerned over something in particular about your reports, he/she would have called you already. Anyway, good luck.
