Can I use Premarin cream with oral Premarin?

Dr. is going to give me premarin cream for internal skin but pharmacy was concerned becuase I am taking oral premarin too. Pharmacy said that was too much estrogen. Should the cream be a progesterin or other hormone? I am currently taking .625 premain orally on daily basis. Any thoughts ladies? I am 9 weeks post op.

Can I use Premarin cream with oral Premarin?

(((countryrose))) the amount of Premarin in Premarin cream is fairly small; if you are only using a small amount of the cream, it will stay mostly in the vaginal walls and never even make it into your bloodstream. Unless you are using a large amount, it's not going to affect your oral Premarin dose.

Any of the estrogen creams are good choices for vaginal dryness. Progesterone cream is only helpful if one or more of the ingredients in its base are soothing; progesterone as a hormone doesn't do much for vaginal dryness.

Can I use Premarin cream with oral Premarin?

I use premarin cream 2X weekly (dosage of 1 gram) and am on oral premarin (.45 mg) as well. After going for a couple of months with no hormones post surgery, my doctor started me out on vagifem to treat the vaginal dryness I was experiencing. The vagifem helped, but not enough. I needed a cream that I could apply to specific dry areas, so switched from the little vagifem capsule. I started on the oral premarin at the same time. I've been on both now for about 2 1/2 weeks and have enjoyed painless sex for the first time since my hyst. The hot flashes are also diminishing significantly.
