DVT stockings

Before I had the op I was given stockings to wear which I had to wear the whole of my hospital stay. When I came home yesterday I inadvertantly wore them home (just stuk on my trainers). Do I need to keep them on or is it ok to take them off yet - at the moment the only time they have been off is for shower/washing - but they must be getting pretty sweaty by now - anyone given any instructions re this ??

DVT stockings

I brought mine home and wore them a few days until I was more mobile. I hand washed them as yes, they were pretty sweaty.

DVT stockings

The hospital gave me three pairs so I could wash them out. My consultant said to wear them for one month if I could stand it. I think I did about three /half weeks and then thought I was definitely moving about enough by then.

DVT stockings

I had a TVH 7 days ago and my doctor said I didn't have to wear the stockings when I was at home. They're to prevent blood clots in the legs. Blood clots are more likely to happen after surgery when you're not active. I wore mine for a few nights while I was sleeping but didn't wear them during the day when I was moving around. (I've been very active.) Also, I threw my stockings in the washer and hung them to dry ... and that worked!!!

DVT stockings

I came home with mine also and wore them for about 1 1/2 weeks. I think I had the "cheap" ones because they began to rip. I also stopped wearing them once I started moving around more. I also got pretty hot here in La., so I had to eventually give them up.
