DH is getting lonely, and wants to resume some activity - without penetration. (Terrific foreplay without vaginal sex.) What is safe and what is not? Oral??? Fingers??? Concerned about infections, muscle pulls and I cannot find any info on the web. Good sigh - I mean sign that I'm feeling interested again. Appreciate any safe clean clinical suggestions.

Most Dr.`s want NOTHING in or around the vaginal area for at least those first 6 weeks to lessen the chances of bacteria finding it`s way into the vagina..........I know ,it can be hard to wait when DH is feeling frisky but it`s so important to give yourself the time to completely heal right......If there`s any doubts ,please call your Dr. and ask..........Best wishes to you as you pamper the `s Renee

We were allowed any clitoral play. My doc said nothing in the vagina and no oral sex because it can bring bacteria in.
If in question, you can always ask your doc or his nurse. I know it may seem embarrassing, but they have heard it all before.

At 5 weeks I was given the green light for sex. We only had outer sex and I ended up with a urinary tract/ bladder infection. I sure wish I would have waited

Please ask your DR what will be allowed. As you can see from the many posts on this website, everyone is different. My DR cleared me for oral at 3 weeks, because I was healing well, but she did not want anything in the vagina for the full 6 weeks to allow for complete healing.

I had a TVH and my doc said external sex/outercourse was fine after 3 weeks.
Had my 6 week check up about a week ago and was cleared for anything, no weight or activity restrictions - except she wanted me to wait "3 or 4 more days" for sex, due to the fact that she applied silver nitrate to my vaginal cuff to aleviate some "granulations" there.
I have heard a lot of the ladies on here say that sex the first time after they were cleared was scary and/or painful - not for us!! Everything is working great, sex is better than it was before my hyst!! The only even kind of bad side effect I had was that the day after we had sex, I was sore - like from over use after having nothing there for so long!!! It was more of a reminder that we were intimate the night before, not painful.
So, not everyones first time after is painful - especially if the doctors instructions are followed!!! Best of luck!!!
