Thyroid meds and Estrogen replacement?

Hi

Anyone taking both??

I'm taking 50mcg of Levoxyl for hypothyroid and have decided to go back to taking Cenestin .45(haven't taken it for a year)

I take the levoxyl in the morning, when would be the best time to take the Cenestin?

TIA

Thyroid meds and Estrogen replacement?

That's a good one to ask of a Pharmacist.

I know that my new compounded thyroid (1/2 grain) seems to have an effect on my estrogen replacement.............I'm suspecting it is lowering my estrogen. I am trying to learn this new balancing act with thyroid and hrt, myself. I do best when I don't take them at the same time....but, will be asking a Pharmacist if there is any literature to back that up.

Let us know what you find out, OK? .................s....Deb

Thyroid meds and Estrogen replacement?

My pharmacist said it would be a good idea since I take the levoxyl in the morning, I should probably take the estrogen before bed. They do have an affect on each other, so they should be taken at least 4 hours apart.

Thyroid meds and Estrogen replacement?

dani,
I'm glad you spoke to your pharmacist. I also take Levoxyl and estragel. My doctor recommended I take the levoxyl in the am and the estrogen replacement in the pm. I found that my thyroid meds were a little low and needed to be adjusted when I initially started on the estrogen replacement. Good luck to you!

What a difference!

I can't believe how much better I feel. I wasn't really expecting anything. I've only taken the Cenestin for 2 days, but the hot flashes have decreased by alot and no extreme drenching night sweats!!

Wish I hadn't been so stubborn about going back on it, of course I felt fine until I started taking thyroid meds.
