I had a TAH in December. 2 weeks ago today I had laparoscopy --- my surgeon removed an ovarian remnant, a huge cyst that was growing from it and all of the endometriosis he saw while he was in there.
I have 4 incisions, the two biggest ones are on either side of my lower abdomen. Yesterday the scabs fell off only to reveal that there are plastic stitches sticking up about 1/4" from both sites! It's like hard fishing wire.
My question is: Do I have to go to the doc to get these clipped off? Is this normal?
I went to see my MD yesterday (I'm 3 weeks post-op today!), I had some pieces of stitch sticking out of the right side of my incision. I told him that they felt scratchy and hard so he snipped them off for me. Give your MD a call, he'll likely do the same.
Thanks, ladies!! I'm going in tomorrow to have them snipped by the doc. Luckily none of the incision sites look infected. Now if only the pain from the surgery would go away, I think I'd feel pretty decent... I have 2 weeks before I have to be back at work so wish me luck!!
