whats your age

I'm not convinced that how fit you are makes a lot of difference unless it's extreme. I seem to have a history of fairly fast recovery from major surgery. I am fitter now than in the past but that hasn't changed, just aged a bit. My consultant from the previous, more serious surgery said it has a lot to do with attitude and so on.

By the way I was 47 nearly 48 when I had my LAVH after years of problems, some endo going back to my twenties discovered during infertility treatments. I tend to say age or type of hyst in my post if it seems appropriate to the thread. Why should it matter if I'm chatting about the book I'm reading for example?

Best wishes all!

whats your age

I agree with marianni. And I don't mind being asked how old I am or anything for that matter. But there is basic stuff I want in my sig, and can only have 150 characters. So I am 39. But my sig stays LOL. Cath

whats your age

I am 43, was in great shape, better than a year ago, working out 5-6 times a weeks for 1-2 hours a day. Can't wait to get back to the gym. Have been walking 3 miles per day for the last 2 weeks.
I feel like I didn't have surgery. Ok I know that I am only 3 weeks out but i feel great. and have gone back to work 1/2 days this week and full days next. I am tired but otherwise feel good.

whats your age

I am 30. I agree that fitness and health and attitude have alot to do with recovery. However, every one's body is different and so will the results. I was physically active daily by walking or running before surgery. Now I am 5 wks post op and can't wait to start the same routine I was following, but dr still says light activity and my dh is watching me like a hawk. Very frustrating! But if I did too much and hurt something, then I would just have to wait that much longer to get back to "normal".
P.S. I really am enjoying this site, by the way!

I am 40 and I agree Your health and fitness levels at the time of the surgery, and the type of surgery you had will be factors in Your recovery. For instance a 50 yr old woman who is in good shape and had a vaginal or lavh might heal faster than a 30 yr old in good shape who hac an abdominal incision. You have to deal with more when You have the abdominal cut than when you have a perineium cut not that it hurts any less but it tends to heal faster because there is not as much movement on the stitches. I wish everyone speedy healing and get well wishes
