Home, second time after complications

OMG....TAH, kept cervix, ovaries 5/8. OMG! The actual surgury and castle stay went quite well. I work at the hospital so I was surrounded by friendly faces. My wife was there every day, and the anti-nausea drugs were a GODSEND. Went home at the end of day 3. Things were fine at home.....until day 2 of home. Started feeling very sick, started vomiting, which hurt soooo much. Wife took me to ER, where they discovered that I had developed an ?(illeus?)(spelling?) Anyway, my bowl had been paralyzed for 8 days. Thus ensued an NG tube to clean me out from the top, which I vomited around anyway although I was not supposed to....a central IV line in my neck, pain and suffering for 5 days until they enemaed the rest of it out after my bowl came back to life. Now, 5/18, I have been home 2 days again, very sore and trying to cope. I am glad I had the surgury as the fibroid they took out was growing outside of my uterus and causing me great pain, along with my bad uterus. Also, I ended up with a vertical ab cut, instead of a bikini cut due to the size of the fibroid. I think I'll live. oy! Hope all others are having good healing. I am so glad this support system is here. Peace to all.....kat (tigerwolf)

Kat,
So sorry to hear of your bad days. Sounds miserable. You're home now and hopefully on the road to recovery with no more bumps along the way. Take it easy and baby yourself--you deserve it.

Home, second time after complications

Kat,

Congrats on getting home without a second surgery. Same happened to me except I never left the hospital. I ended up with a 2nd surgery due to adhesion on my bowel. See my sig, still having problems. Glad to hear that someone else avoided what for me was inevitable.

Take Good Care,

Sharon aka Spritey

Hugs back to all who post!

Just a quick thanks to all the well wishes......it does so help when we help each other. Spritey, hang in there! We are looking at hopefully porch sitting and plant potting as activities....sun does wonders for my mood, which I have been told has been getting a bit "cranky".....lol! Wife is a saint in hiding, and these boards are a blessing......I am a bit humbled as I hobble for the time being. Tigerwolf

Tigerwolf,
Hope you're feeling a lot better now! Just be careful with the plant potting and don't do too much too soon. By all means sit on the porch and rest and let yourself be waiting on. Only one chance to heal right, you know. Hobble safely!
