Oh great! No more periods but I'm going to be BALD!
Hi Sisters I'm feeling better and I've turned the corner so now I can really worry about the more petty things in my life....I am losing tons of hair every time I wash it!
I used to wash it in the shower but after cleaning out the drain the other day decided that may not be smart. I'd come out of the shower with enough hair on my shoulders to gross me out. Now I wash in the sink and can really see the loss.
Anyone else? Does it get better? I see my hairdresser on the weekend..maybe I'll get a discount as there's less to color

I have noticed the same thing! My face is also breaking out horribly! My sister is a beautician and she suggested taking a lot of vitamin E. I just started taking some last nite, so it's too soon to know if it works.

Since you kept your ovaries, hopefully the hair loss is a anesthesia side effect and will subside. I didn't have much hair loss, but I did have my acne flare up. I broke out two days after surgery and it was continually a problem until about two weeks ago. I immediately went from using my ProActiv repaining lotion once a day to twice a day, but it took time to work.

I thought mine was getting MUCH thinner at the temples...
hadn't heard it might be anesthesia related. If it is and it subsides that's good, cause I kept my ovaries too...
yikes!

I had thinning hair before my surgery. I had both ovaries removed and have been concerned about more hair loss. I asked my doctor about it and all he said was "You haven't seen thin". Not very comforting. I am on Cenestrin and am hoping that may help me from losing more hair. Any thoughts?

The hair loss is related to the anesthesia and can last up to several months. I experienced this last year after intestinal sugery. My hair was shoulder length at the time. After several showers of handfuls of hair, I finally had it cut short. It finally started growing back about eight months after surgery. It's a totally different texture now though. Biotin helps with hair loss.

I had the thinning hair and my skin has not been great, but it seems to be getting better. I'm not losing as much hair in the shower now, and I've tried some different make up that makes my skin less oily. I read on this site that it is a side effect of the anesthesia, and that it will get better with time.

not to worry hair will stop falling out
What a coincidense that I read this thread today. My girlfriend just came over for lunch. She's a dermatologist. I mentioned that my hair seems to be falling out now more often. I'm 2 weeks after surgery (TAH) she said not to worry, it's normal from the surgery, anasthesia and meds. All the hair will grow back but it could take a few months. She also said not to take Vitamin E. That it is no longer recommended like it once was.
Hope this helps some.
