Severe Dysplasia & Uterine Fibroids

After reading through pages of replies to Jane's question, "am I out of my mind to consider a hysterectomy due to recurring dysplasia?" eased my mind of deciding to go forward with a hyst. I have 12 years of severe dysplasia, ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids. I think I've had every procedure; leep, cutterage, laparoscopic, removal of fibroids, cones, cryocauterization, and biopsy’s...I don't know how many. My doctor was trying to avoid a hyst. until she was sure I could come to terms with not having a child of my own. I'm 43. Last week I told her I'm ready and she said "you made the right decision." I am use to the pain and don't think about it anymore. The longest I've gone with a normal pap is 6 months. My surgery is scheduled early Sept. and after reading through these messages I think I'll schedule it sooner. I can't express my gratitude to all the messages on this website. I registered to thank you.

Thank you for your comments. When are you having your surgery? I'm going to discuss with my manager when the best time is in the next couple months. I didn't want to do it in the summer but I don't have a choice. Thank you for your prayers, I will pray for you as well.

Thank you. I will keep you posted and I'm sure I will need support. My surgery has been moved up to July 13th. I have to have a complete removal of my uterus, cervix and ovaries. I'm very high risk and just a point or 2 away from cancer. Now I can't wait until I have it. Let me know how your consult goes. You will definitely be in my prayers.

Thank you. I did read that page on the website - when I first came to this site. I have to have a complete removal of my uterus, cervix and ovaries. I'm very high risk and just a point or 2 away from cancer. I'm a little scared that I waited too long but my doctor assured me that I'm ok. I've been going in every 3 months. I can't thank you enough for responding - I need to talk about it.

Thank you. I will check out Cancer Concerns page. Right now I feel like I waited too long. I talk to my doctor on Tuesday to get my latest results and confirm my surgery date. If I can I'm going to move my surgery date up - this waiting is really hard. My Grandmother died from ovarian cancer, my Dad died of cancer. I have had every procedure available over the last 5 years. My doctor is a high risk gynocologist so I am in good hands. What treatments did you have for your cancer? I'm getting the full meal deal - everything removed. Thanks again.
