Can running cause bladder prolapse after surgery?

I'm trying to get back in shape. I'm 4 months post op.Had a TAH/BSO adhesions on bowel and bladder, also vaginal vault prolapse as well as an oburator hernia. I did walk two days after surgery, and continued walking. a month ago I started back to running and cycling. A friend of mine, was told by her gyn that running can cause prolapses. Anybody hear anything like this?

Can running cause bladder prolapse after surgery?

Hi pia9724
I haven't heard this. I do know aging, giving birth and heavy lifting are common. I will share this site that discusses Causes of Prolapse . If you find information on this I would be interested to see it. I have just never heard it myself.

I used to be a long distance runner.

My DR told me I should give up running and walk fast instead he just said it is much easier on the body.
I loved to run I trained and ran in 3 mini marathons so I know how you feel. I also had bladder prolapse and recytyle. Everything taken out and BSO with LAVH done.
I think I will stick to walking now because I don't want to have any more problems. Good luck to you. Cycling would also be good.
God Bless

Can running cause bladder prolapse after surgery?

My old GYN (the one that did the hyst), my current GYN, my physical therapist, and my urologist all said that anything that jars the body (such as running/jogging) should be avoided after having a hysterectomy and/or prolapse repairs.

take care

Can running cause bladder prolapse after surgery?

Thanks Preciouspearl, I did go to that website about prolapses. It's amazing, I had this surgery, and my dr never mentioned about during Kegel exercises, ever. Iasked if there were any activities I shouldn't be doing and he just looked at me, and said no. The only thing he said to me that I will have a normal and healthy life. But after reading on these message boards, I'm beginning to wonder. Thanks again to all!

Can running cause bladder prolapse after surgery?

I was told to walk which I have always done. From being in the pharmaceutical field, I can tell you that all these "impact" activities DO cause problems and wear and tear on the body. The doctors feel that if the person wants to do it, they do it. Physicians know the long term consequences. Keep active but be careful with running.
