I feel so ACHEY after work! almost 8 weeks post-op

Hey y'all!

I have been back to work for almost 3 weeks now. (I'm a kindergarten teacher-with only 2 more weeks of school left-with the students) When I get home, I am so achey feeling. My whole body just aches-all over-especially my joints. It is a kind of ache that you feel like when you are running a fever...but I am not running a fever.

I have tried everything from whirlpool baths to motrin to massages at the spa. Nothing works! I know it is because I am doing WAY too much. BUT being a kindergarten teacher-I HAVE to do WAY too much! LOL If not the youngins act like this-all day

I keep thinking to myself-only 2 more weeks-only 2 more weeks-only 10 more days-LOL

Did anyone else feel that way? IF so...how did you make it go away?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Hi there,
I'm a speech path working in a school with a huge Kindergarten caseload. I feel your pain! lol BUT, I want you to know it does get WAY better. The exhaustion for me went on til really sometime last month (5 months post). I still get tired, but not like it used to be. Still a little achy, but people keep telling me it takes about a year to fully recover. Summer's just around the corner though! Kindergarten graduation is tomorrow for me! (Last day of school.) Hang in there!!

Yipee-

Thanks for replying. I needed some comforting. I usually tell stuff like this to my mom but she passed away. When I saw your hyster date-it sent chills through my spine. Mama passed away on your hyster date. I believe in signs-there are signs all around that she is still with me-always. This is just another sign that she IS with me!

Thanks so much for replying-you made my day-literally!

Well, then, you made my day, too. I don't know about you, but working with those kids takes my mind off of other heavy duty stuff sometimes. Don't kids say the funniest things? I asked a child yesterday how your eyes and ears are alike. They said, "well, your eyes and ears are alike because they don't move (and she stares hard straight ahead), then she says, and they are different because your ears move less than your eyes. (Ok, now I'm really trying not to laugh.) They just make me smile constantly. We had a pretty tree bloom just outside the door recently and another child said to me, "looks like the spring fairy came last night." Isn't that a simple and beautiful explanation? Well, keep the faith and stay strong. These 2 weeks will fly by and then it will be clean up the room time. I've got to shuffle stuff and clean up tomorrow. Hard to change momentum into summer, ya know? I didn't leave school til 5:30 today and felt like I didn't get a scratch done in my paperwork. Here's to an interesting tomorrow! Keep me posted on the goings ons.... I'm thinking about ya.

I am so glad someone said something about being achey. What is up with that??? I usually get up at 6 am and go to about 11 pm then I had a hysterectomy and I just get so tired and what is with the achiness!!??? I started back to work after a TAH at 4 weeks post op and feeling good and really now back to normal life at 8 weeks but I just get so tired and yesterday I was thinking that my joints hurt. Now today I went for a good mile and a half walk and feel good. I think I just thought I could work my way out of it and finding that healing is just tougher than I imagined....

I will be 8 weeks on Monday and I am achey just from a "normal day". By 6 pm I just want to crawl in bed. Still spotting but today i had had enough and cleaned out my DD's room and did laundry all day and wow my abdomen is really sore and bloated to the extreme. I guess we don't realize how much we used every muscle in out body before surgery!

To answer all of you, I had this same thing with the joint pain following my surgery-and prior to my surgery, was going to Curves Gym on a regular basis as well as walking alot.

I was especially achey in my shoulder, elbow and R knee.

My Dr. said that joint pain can be a sign of low estrogen and increased my dose. I felt better almost immediately. For the first few months (when I was able to lay on my stomach-was so tender for awhile)-I started having a massage once a month-which really helped alot with the joint pain and fatigue. I aLso took 800 mg. of Motrin before bed every might.

Now that I am becoming more physically active, the pain is nearly gone. By blood test, my estrogen level is finally up to a "normal" pre-menopausal level-after all these months. I am using a Vivelle Dot 0.1

I am now about 8 1/2 months out-I still get very tired late afternoon into the evening and even take a nap after work somedays. I am really starting to believe that what they say about a full year to fully recover is true.

Best wishes and to all of you
