Pre-ops today, feeling good

I have been in such a good mood today. {knocking wood} I haven't had any no-baby blues today. I didn't even cry at the doctor's office like I usually do. I was having a little anxiety over wanting to keep my cervix. But my doc told me today about this study that came out within the last month (he didn't cite it for me though ). He said it shows that there is absolutely no difference in sexual function or incontinence between women who kept their cervixes (or is it cervi?) & women who had them removed. I guess I had been wanting to hang onto as many parts that I was born with as possible. So I'm having it removed....no more paps....WOOOOOHOOOOO. I always feel so violated after a pap.

When I asked if he would use my existing myomectomy scar/incision he said yes. Then when he looked at it he said "Oh I'll make this look much better too." WOOOHOOO. Hasn't really been a concern, no partners have ever commented on it. (Men are just happy to have a naked woman in their presence I think.) I don't like the way it looks, but have never lost sleep over it. But I sure did like hearing that he can make it look better. (It was red & hard for months to maybe a year-ish, but now is flesh colored & raised.)

He probably won't use staples, but reserves the right to use them if necessary. Those really freaked me out when I had them before so that will be a relief if I wake up without them.

He answered every one of my long list of questions & then some. And God bless that man, he gave me 3 beautiful xanax for the pre-op days.

Off to the hospital----regular bloodwork, explained the breathing exercise toy I'll have, told me where to come in & where my room will be. YAY, I will be in a different area from maternity. I'm 36 with no kids & will NOT want to be hearing newborns crying or proud parents & grandparents cooing over the babies. When the lady asked who my doc is she went on & on about what a great guy he is & she just loves him. This speaks volumes to me. His nurse at the office is also very protective of him. I've never heard staff go on & on about their docs like I have with this doctor. Says alot.

That's my story & I'm stickin' to it.

It is nice when a dr takes the time to answer all our questions, isn't it?
It's great that you're feeling better about everything, I think that it's important to feel as comfortable as possible going into major surgery

Best wishes, I hope that all goes well for your surgery and recovery.

Jeanus, thank you. Yes it is nice to have a doc that actually wants me to understand everything.

Oh & I forgot to mention NO SHAVING. He says they don't do that anymore, they use clippers & trim it close, but no shaving. I'm so happy about that because I get shaving bumps really bad. It was an added pain when I had ab surgery before to have those bumps/ingrown hairs right at my incision...YUCK. (He did tell me to avoid shaving bumps to use neutrogena soap on the area, not shaving cream or conditioner or anything else, & to use a new razor every time. I'll see if this works when I'm up to shaving after recovery.)

And he does not have "adult swim" available for post-op appointments, so I'll just have to deal with the babies & toddlers & pregnant bellies. But if I don't have staples that need removing, I assume this will eliminate one of the post op appointments.
