estrogen dosage ???

Hi everyone!
Had my hyst on April 2nd TAH/BSO due to endo so I waited till now to start HRT. Doctor prescribed Estrace .5 at my 4 week check up yesterday. Since the surgery I have had some migraines but this last week they have been almost constant!!

My question is what is the common dosage for Estrace?
I'm only 39 so I thought he would talk about uping the dosage over the first week. The dosage seems low to me. Anyone else?

Thanks Mary

Juliette,
There really is no standard doseage. We are all different and require different doses in order to achieve our balance. With hormones, it is better to start low and adjust up if needed. It's easier to add than it is to take away. Do give your doctor a call and let him know about the headaches. You may need some tweaking of your dose.

You are early in your recovery and because of the endo that could be why a low dose. I had emergency sugery due to endo, I did not even know I had endo till then. I did not start Estrace till April 12th of this year to make sure any tiny implants had died off. I am on Estrace 1mg once a day. You may want to call and talk to your doctor about this. My doctor told me to wait 6 months. I had some health problems and I wanted to wait a little longer to start HRT.

The headaches could be your body getting use to the Estrace. When I started Estrace I had a few headaches My dr said it would be 8 weeks till the Estrace gets totally into my system.

That is why they call this the Jungle. It takes time we are all diffrent and are on diffrent HRT. Also when we
start HRT I think the dr starts at a low dose and go's
from there

Were you having headaches before you started
Estrace? Your body is adjusting after the sugery and
hormone levels going down. You may want to call your dr and let him know about your headaches.
