Still numb after 5 1/2 months?

I was wondering if the strange numbness above and below the incision site ever goes away? Actually, it feels numb just below the surface, but the skin on the surface is extremely sensitive.

Perhaps it's Mother Nature's way of keeping things from hurting!

Thanks for any insights!

Still numb after 5 1/2 months?

Hi There,
I just wanted to let you know that I am just a couple of days behind you in healing and I still have an area that is numb and the sensitive skin. I saw my gyn for a check up yesterday and asked him about it, he assured me that it is normal to have numbness around the incision site for a while after this surgery, he said it may last for a year or more. I know my mother had her gallbladder out a few years ago, (the old way) and she said she still has a couple of small numb spots.
So this is a normal part of the healing process.

Have a Great day!!!

Still numb after 5 1/2 months?

I have numbness from my incision site (bikini) to my belly button. I saw my dr a few days ago and asked about it. He said the nerve(?) that is cut starts in the back....he pointed to the small of his back...and has to regenerate. He said it only does that about a millemeter? a ?month. Said it could take a year or two. I'm not sure he said a month and I don't know how long a millemeter is, but I'm sure he said it could be a yr. Also said some don't ever come back.

Boy, I made THAT perfectly clear didn't I?

Numbness

I am new here and 23 months post op. I have also had three c-sections prior to my hysterectomy. I am still numb along the incision line. I doubt I will ever get the feeling back due to the fact that between each c-section I never regained the feeling at all.

Still numb after 5 1/2 months?

I know this isn't going to sound promising...but here goes. I had my hysterectomy 11 yrs. ago...and I am still numb. In fact, I had a c-section 4.5 yrs. prior to the hysterectomy and that numbness hadn't gone away....ugh! The numbness extends approximately 1 inch above the scar. After all this time, I've gotten used to it, though I hope you are successful in getting all of your feeling back. Good luck!!!
