Fluid retention anyone?

Not sure if this is a hormone issue or a post-op issue...I realized this morning that my fingers were quite puffy, which was a periodic occurence when I was having normal cycles. However, I was confirmed postmenopausal last November, and had LAVH/BSO 9-1/2 weeks ago. I can't imagine there being any significant hormonal cycling underlying my HRT (I am taking Premarin .625). This is the first time I've noticed this since the surgery, and for quite some time before that I would say. I don't have high blood pressure and all my blood work is excellent....a pretty healthy (if not low mileage ) specimen. Any thoughts anyone?

Fluid retention anyone?

I have fluid retention also in my hands and feet. Everytime I take ibuprofen it happens . I don't know if it's the ibuprofen or hormones to me.

Fluid retention anyone?

I read on Hystersister after my hyst that sometimes a little (for me 1/4 tsp) USP progesterone cream (can be bought at healthfood places or most pharmacies) rubbed into skin at night might do the trick in balancing fluid levels in the body. Ive heard natural progesterone acts as a diuretic and also helps to balance out the estrogen. Worked for me....no more sausage fingers! PMS for me was being VERY bloated and irritable so I know I was low for many years prior to the hyst. Good luck

Fluid retention anyone?

I have this too! I'm not on hrt and just had my hormone levels tested - all are fine. I wake up with puffy, stiff fingers and it gets better throughout the day, but back again the next morning. Even my rings are tight in the morning - strange. I don't know what it is, and hope it goes away.

Fluid retention anyone?

Hi everyone. Thanks for responding! I noticed in another post that exercise can affect hormone levels as well. I don't know how quickly that response occurs, but I did notice that my hands felt more swollen later in the day following a long walk...so maybe related, maybe not. Hopefully by paying attention I can put the pieces together and figure out what's causing it.

My fingers swelled for a couple of months after my surgery while I was using the Climara patch. I don't know though if it was the Climara, the dose, or just the estrogen/progesterone balance. It did go away though.
