Question - my sore breasts my sore breasts

hey ladies,

i am reading here that some hormones can cause your breasts to hurt and be bigger. i am almost 2 yrs PO now and have the breast pain kinda like when i had a period and had to much caffine, and before my hyst i started putting on weight. the weight gain stopped when i had the hyst, but now my breast are growing by leaps and bounds, i can't stand it, its like i just gave birth and my milk just came in. AAAGGHHH. i am not on hormones since i have my leftie still. should i just bite the bullet and go to the dr, oh my pap was good in sept and my mammo was good in oct both of last year. what do you all think???

thanks,

debbie

my sore breasts

Hi Debbie Sorry you are having trouble with sore breasts. Often this is a sign of fibrocystic breasts, which (you're right) are aggravated by caffeine. They are also aggravated by estrogen dominance, which means estrogen out of proportion to progesterone and testosterone. If your DR is OK with it, one 'quick fix' that works for many of us is to use a little progesterone cream (either OTC or prescription) on your breasts at night - I say at night because it can make you drowsy. I learned about this in Dr. Lee's book, "What Your Doctor Might Not Tell You About Breast Cancer", and it works great for me.

You're right... might be time to see your DR. Let us know what he/she says, OK?

The DR can check your hormone levels, but really if you're having fibrocystic breasts, there's no need to check the hormones - you know you're estrogen dominant. Most DRs prefer to prescribe HRT's by symptoms rather than hormone level values anyway, because we all feel best at different levels.

my sore breasts

hello ladies,

i have gone to the dr's today. he didn't find anything with the exam, but he is sending me for a sonogram of the breasts on thurs of this week, and back to see him in two. he wants me on vitamin e, no caffine and some antibotics and motrin for the pain. he said it more than likly is not from hormones, cus he says i am too young for that mess. we shall see.

take care, debbie

my sore breasts

I had estrogen dominance causing breast pain after my hyst when I was only 25, and it lasted until last summer when I turned 30. Right about the time I would get to where I could not stand it, things would settle down, so it was my choice not to treat my issue--I have other medical conditions that had to be considered as well.

It has been many months since I have had sore breasts, so blood was just drawn so we can compare my hormone levels with previous tests, as it looks like my estrogen has dropped.

Age does not necessarily dictate what type of health issues you will or will not have. Some of us just do things our way!

Many best wishes to you and I hope you can find a solution to your situation. I know how awful you can feel when your breasts are swollen and sore.
