How will I behave once I am no longer pre-op?

AM I the only one doing this? Everything i do...it's pre-op..My pre-op dental visit, pre-op check in at hospital, pre-op hairdo, pre-op wax (wow story to tell), pre-op carpet cleaning, pre-op shopping....I am going nuts! Pretty soon I will have pre-op pre-op! I guess the one good thing is today is my last pre-op visit from Aunt Flo. Maybe she's making me crazy!!

Does this ever end and I become normal or do I just roll over into a post-op world?

Hi Caspercat,
I did the very same thing(we're sisters!) I am reluctant to tell you that your post-op world lumes in the distance! Sorry about that!!! I am just now participating in events that I don't say..."This is how I feel post surgery or I remember how I felt when...
There is life after surgery!!!!

I'm back to normal after 4+ mos but until my 6 week post-op, this board really helped me with my post-op questions and support.

Well, I have good news and I have bad news. The bad news is: yup, you're gonna roll over into post-op. The good news is that its the way its supposed to be. Pre-op you need to get ready mentally, physically and emotionally. You need to focus on your surgery and yourself. Post-op you need to heal, again, focussing on yourself. But, as you heal, your focus will gradually change and you will be back to your old self. Probably better because you don't have all your pre-op gyne issues to deal with. I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out and have broadened my focus some. I'm planning to help out our church. Just something simple. We have Vacation Bible School coming up in July, and they'll need someone to cut out some of the stuff needed for the crafts. I can do that from my couch.
So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You are not crazy, just doing what you need to.

It truly is amazing how life consuming this operation is. I have had numerous surgeries. One on my ankle that took over 6 months to heal completely and it was never like this. You will go from the pre-op state of life to the post-op state of life and continue to be quite absorbed with your body and how it's healing. At nine weeks out, I am finally getting more involved with my normal routine, and not constantly focusing on the surgery any more. Give yourself the time you need to completely heal and come to terms with the new you. Best of luck with your surgery. I know you've heard it before, but I'll reiterate--the anticipation and dread of every aspect from surgery, the post-op visits, the first time sex, the return to work, and the return to normal living were much worse than the actual experience. You are going to do just fine.

Hi Tracey,
I know exactly how you feel. I'm so over all this pre-op stuff I could scream. At times I feel like I'm prepping for my own funeral! Are the bills paid up? Is my living will with my hospital/doctor records? Does my son have school clothes for August? Am I stocked up in case of a hurricane? Do the cats have enough food to last a few months? Are there nough cnas of sphagetti o's for my my son? And the list goes on and on and on And then to top it off my tooth got infected, I'm on antibiotics and have to have it pulled next week (4 days before surgery). Are we having fun yet (oh yea, and that's on the list too)!!!!!
