Mini Period? UGH-Sorry this is long

OK...so I am three weeks post op tomorrow and feeling really good. I had some small spotting on Saturday that continued through today. It seemed to be only when I wiped etc and I did not think that I really had overdone it but took it really easy yesterday and still was bleeding so I called the Dr and spoke to his nurse who said..."well you kept your cervix and there are glands there"...yeah I know but only because I have read the threads here. Keep in mind my Dr never told me that if I kept one ovary and my cervix this could happen. The nurse said usually it gets less each month etc. So I asked her if the Dr. cautaurized and she said "I don't think so"...needless to say I had already requested a copy of my surgical report but have not received it yet.

So I am kinda bummed because I wanted NO periods.

So I see the Dr next Tuesday and need to ask the Dr what we can do to correct this. Can he cauraurize the cervix after the fact?

Sorry for the length but thanks for the vent!!

Mini Period? UGH-Sorry this is long

Just wanted you to know that my Dr. warned me about the mini periods. So far, no problem, but figure that is due to the fact that they think I have gone into permanent menopause. But when I asked him about the mini's pre-op he told me that he has never had to go back just to take a cervix (well obviously if there was cancer or some such), and that he could cryo the trouble spots in the office if need be.

Hope that gives you some small info. I'm sure another sister has been in your boat before and can offer some more concrete advice.

HI. I kept my cervix, but no bleeding yet. Have no idea if my surgeon cauterized my cervix.
Good question for the 6 week visit this week. Sorry that you have to deal with things again so soon after surgery.

Mini Period? UGH-Sorry this is long

Hey ... give it time! I'm well over a year post-op now and I have mini-periods, which initially needed just a tiny pantyliner for 48 hours, to now needing nothing at all. It's still there every month but literally only the slightest smear when I wipe.

I use it as a way to check that my ovaries are still working! When it stops, I'll start to worry ...

My gyn told me that she would cauterize the cervix, but it is not a sure thing I won't get a mini-period and to expect one, but that it would be light. I am sorry your dr never informed you of this. My impression was that even with cauterization mini periods are possible because it is not always possible to cauterize everything completely. I wanted to keep my cervix, so I am happy with my decision. I hope that your dr can answer your questions. Good luck at your app't.

Mini Period? UGH-Sorry this is long

My doctor never informed me of "mini" periods. I am 3 months post op and am in the middle of what I guess is a mini period. My did not keep my cervix. It is not heavy, just there every time I wipe. Does this last forever? How is it possible to have one if you don't have the uterine lining anymore?

did you say you kept your cervix or not. If you have your cervix that is the lower 1/3 of your uterus. Even after cauterizing, (which my Dr. did for me, I think my words to him were to burn the living snot out of it!!) some endometrial tissue can still be hanging around. If you have your ovaries and they are functioning, they produce the hormones that signal the start of your period, and the remaining tissue (if any) responds to the hormones with the bleeding. Every post I've seen from women who have them, seems to indicate they are extremely light. Hope that helps you.

Hi, shshbeanmojeke! I am sorry your dr did not tell you about having mini periods if you have kept at least one ovary and your cervix. I hope you are able to talk to your dr and see what options you have at your next appt.

slinky0408: As your profile states you have had a LAVH as I did, you must mean you do not have your cervix. Therefore you are not experiencing a mini period. You are either still having discharge from healing or may have some granulation on your vaginal cuff. You might call your dr and let him/her know you are still spotting.

Best wishes all!
