perimenopause?

since my hyst( kept ovaries) I have drenching night sweats every couple of weeks,hot and cold shifts during the days and nights regularly, low libido, drastic skin changes....so i called my endochrinologist and asked for a hormone test. I have heard of others having similar symptoms...but within normal hormone range. is that perimenopause? and even without a label, do they treat the symptoms? basically I jsut want to know what is going on with my body...but i would also like relief i guess. Any insight? BTW my surgeon/gyn said I wouldnt need any "help" until at least a year after hyst.

It can take some time after a hyst before your ovaries kick back in and do their job. Consequently, you may have menopause symptoms! I had menopuase symptoms for several months after my hyst, not fun! Some drs like to wait awhile before treating your symptoms to make sure your ovaries are not going to work. Others will give ladies HRT for a short time unil their ovaries kick in. My dr had me wait, my mom's dr had her take HRT. So, talk to your drs about how you feel and find out what is best for you. As you have an endocrinologist and a GYN, you have the opportunity to get two different perspectives on your situation.
