PTSD post hysterectomy

I have gone through the mill and i am done. I almost died just before surgery, needed transfusions and still feel like poo almost 4 weeks later. I went to my GP because i am running a fever now, and after we talked, he suggested I am developing PTSD. My nightmares are getting worse and I just feel like saying the heck with it and sitting around eating ice cream, and just become a hermit.
I already take antidepressants ( have for a while) so that is not it.
I just need to scream.
and now i am having cramps where there nothing to cramp.... how is that possible???

I am sorry you are having all these problems and pain just when you thought your surgery would put all this in the past.

You are early post-op still and you had major surgery. A hyst is very hard on the body emotionally and physcially. A lot of what you are going through is normal, the moods, hormones or lack of them, soreness and sometimes pain too. Stress can also cause physical pains as well.

If you are cramping then I would see the gyn and see what he says and discuss your hormones. You can tell him about your moods and feelings of anxiety and wanting to scream . Maybe you could use hormones. I felt horrible until I was on hrt. I cried, had anxiety, insomnia, hot flashes and was not fit to live with.

I will be thinking and praying for you. You will get through this , it may take some time , but don't give up okay?

We are here for you.

I'm sorry for all the problems & complications you're having & want to send a hug your way to make you feel better. I agree that it's very early in your recovery & that you need to give yourself time to heal. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm so sorry you endured such a traumatic experience. Surely part of your healing is emotional as you recover from the reality of nearly losing your life and your dreams are likely a way of sorting that out and coming to terms.

Be very gentle with yourself during this vulnerable time and know that we are here for you.

As someone who deals with chronic PTSD, I truly feel sorry to hear about your own possible PTSD. I would strongly encourage you to seek help if you are comfortable with it. Oftentimes PTSD can be healed much more quickly if you receive help in dealing with it right away.

I can relate to wanting to be a hermit - I spent several years leaving the house only for medical appointments. I never dreamed I would have that kind of problem. I'm telling you this because it has taken me a long time to heal. My hope for you would be that you would take it seriously now to prevent more difficult problems later. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions - sometimes it helps to chat with someone who has been there.
