Are there anymore check-ups after 6 week check?

I have a 6 week post-op check tomorrow for a pelvic exam. It is my understanding that Dr. will check my vaginal cuff to make sure healing is complete. I also hope he clears me for sex! I do have a slight bulge on my right side that feels slightly bruised that I want to ask him about, but all in all I am feeling pretty good. After this visit are there anymore post-op appointments? Just curious.

HI! You shouldn't have any more post op check ups if all goes well and you are cleared. Only those with continual post op problems keep having post op check ups past the 4/6 week mark. I had my last post op check at 23 or 24 weeks post op due to problems which required additional surgery at 16 weeks post op.

Good luck at your post op!

Are there anymore check-ups after 6 week check?

I just had my 6 week check up today and my doctor said I was good until next year. I had just a bit of granulation and she said it would go away as I healed. I am cleared for sex and "normal" activity... but still no lifting over 5 lbs -- and very limited vacuuming.(I my !) She said that lifting too much could result in a dropped pelvic floor and that I might not even know there was a problem for a couple of years... so I think I'll be good. I thought that was kind of scary! She gave me a copy of my records (I asked for them) and some nice color photos of my operation! I lost 600? of blood. Don't know if that is cc's or what but she told me I needed iron because of the blood loss after the surgery. I have to continue taking my iron pills for 3 months.
But other than that it sounds like I'm in pretty good shape!

Holy crap! A dropped pelvic floor? What is that? I am a little freaked out because I steamed cleaned my carpets this past week and that is way more labor intensive then vaccuming! My Dr. said I could do activities as long as I felt ok. I never had any pain but I hope I didn't mess anything up!

Okay... before you panic -- remember we are all different... She told me I am still healing and to continue taking it easy as far as lifting and pushing goes. She also knows that I schlep a ton of "stuff" (books/binders) for work-- and is advising me to make my load lighter for a good 3 months. (So that's the first month I'm back at work, at least!)
I found info at this site: http://www.universityobgyn.com/pelvic.htm that explains a dropped pelvic floor. It sounds like everything is just smooshed together and dropped - not a good thing!
I would rather err on the side of my health... there is nothing so pressing for me that can't wait -- or that I can' t get someone else to do!

Peace... I just looked at your profile and had to laugh... I am quite a bit older than you as well... I am, as my dad used to say, "no spring chicken"! and I know that my doctor is also being more strict with me because of that. When I first looked up info on hyst. I told her that I already told work I'd probably be back in 2-6 weeks... She said I shouldn't even mention two weeks to them! As it is she's keeping me out 8 weeks!
...and that's a good thing!

I Have To Go Back In 6 Months Because Of The Severely Abnormal Cells On My Cervix Even Though I Had The Leep Surgery DEC 8TH 2006 Follow By A Hyster 4 Months Later. No Uterus No Cervix Guess They Just Want To Make Sure That There Is No Cancer Anywhere. I WAS NOT DIAGNOST WITH CANCER BUT THAT IS WHAT AN ABNORMAL PAP COULD LEAD TO.

I just had my six week check up on 6/7/06, and I was told I should come back in three months. I don't know if there will be any beyond that.

I'm not sure. I had a serum pouch that just closed up and quit draining afer he fixed a granulation and put some silver nitrate on it. Once I found out that it was quite normal to get a serum pouch after abdominal surgery it didn't bother me so much. I have been seeing my doctor every week since I got out of the hospital in April.

I'm on my 7th week now. He said I have healed up nicely on the inside. I go back to see him next week. I didn't go this week because he's on vacation.

I don't mind.

I am going in for my 8-wk. on Monday as I was not cleared to go back to work yet at my 6-wk. appt., my incision was still a little bit open in one spot and my cuff was not fully healed yet. I'm expecting to get the all-clear to go back to work then and hopefully for sex as well. Let us know how yours goes - good luck to you!
