Three Week Wall?

Pardon my ignorance but I have seen several references to the 'Three Week Wall.' I am 2 weeks Monday. Is this a good thing or will I take 2 steps back?! First two weeks have been worse than expected and hoping for some good days. Still trying to decide if it was worth it. Anybody?

The infamous three week wall....

Hi Patti,

The "three week wall" is when the anesthetic wears out of your body and, for those of us sisters who were feeling like Wonder Woman at two weeks (no pain, bouncing around) it was a rude shock to start feeling things! The wall doesn't happen to everybody. Did you have complications???????

(((HUGS))))

Best,

Three Week Wall?

Hi

No complications so far. But I have always had some degree of pain and discomfort. Getting out of bed and chair still tricky and painful. Have not had a super hero surge yet so will just have to relax a bit longer.

Thanks,

Patti

Three week wall

Now you have me worried! I have felt really well since my surgery (TVH/BSO). My two week will be Friday. I'll be visiting my daughter for a week (out of town) the day I turn 3 weeks post op. Does the pain start then? Think I'll bring those pain meds I haven't been needing! Tell me more about the dreaded "wall"!

Three Week Wall?

I AM 5 DAYS INTO MY THIRD WEEK AND HAVEN'T HIT THE WALL YET. AT LEAST NOT TOO HARD ANYWAY. LAST NIGHT I HAD SOME CRAMPING, NOT TOO BAD THOUGH. THE ONE THING THAT REALLY BOTHERS ME IS MY RIGHT HIP. HAS SINCE THE THIRD DAY AFTER SURGERY. I HAVE BEEN TAKING IT EASY AND DOING LITTLE THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE. NOT MUCH. I TAKE WALKS AND JUST ENJOY MY TIME OFF WORK. GOOD LUCK IN YOUR RECOVERY AND STAY AWAY FROM THAT WALL. TAKE A PILLOW ON YOU TRIP AND STOP TO REST IF NEEDED. HAVE A GOOD TIME AND DON'T OVER DO IT.

Three Week Wall?

Recovery takes 6 - 8 weeks...and basically you can hit a "wall" anytime during that time if you overdo it...for most women it seems to happen during the 3rd week. If you've been resting and laying around for 2 weeks...and feeling good...you have a tendency to think that you're healed AND obviously bored so you start doing things....then your body lets you know it's NOT ready.

PLUS, Harley is right..anest is leaving your system and you're cutting back on pain pills so you'll start feeling more.

Be careful that you don't overdo it when you start feeling good...you probably won't know it until AFTER it happens...so use caution!!! All restrictions your dr. gave you still apply...until you're cleared by him/her to do more. My gyn. told me to basically do nothing for 6 weeks.

Glo - take those pain pills with you just in case

Third week wall

Why is it that we have trouble not doing anything even when we get permission to not do anything! Is it a woman thing? It's hard for me to delegate. I would rather do things myself, so being ok about someone waiting on you when you feel pretty good is hard. Accepting help is hard. But I am on the watch for the devil wall and will keep my eyes open for it and feet up! I'm also packing those pain pills! Thanks for all the help systers!

i'm with you patti

I am 9 days post-op and it hasn't been much of a treat for me. I have had a lot of pain and discomfort, and felt the insurance kicked me out way too early 3 nights. I am going to write them a letter and complain when I stop feeling so frail.

I only had my one remaining ovary and ovarian cyst removed because insurance wouldn't okay the rest. I now have uterus and no ovaries.

Hoping for a good day.
