Sunny Sunday! 11 Jun

Good afternoon all!

Marion, glad to hear all went well, how are you feeling today? Our local walks for life were done in May. I will be doing them next year.

The weather is beautiful here today, and I am sorting through DHs washing, getting his stuff ready to go back!
He handed in his notice on friday, as he's sick of driving up and down to London, dunno quite what he has in mind, but I expect he'll find something soon. I am anxious of course, but at the same time, I can't blame him. It is hard being on your own all week, and the girls have been very naughty and cheeky of late. It will pull them up short for them to have their daddy around on a daily basis. (They argue less with me when he's around)
Right, I must plod on, hope you are all well!

have a good day!

Morning BESTers

Marion - : you did your race - you finished your race - you survived your race! LOL Your a champ!!

Another beautiful, cool, windy day here in Southern NJ. Soooo unusual by this time in the year. We should be hot by now. At least it's not raining here again.

I've got the pool on, but no ones swimming - too cold. But the leaves keep finding their way in due to the strong breezes. All work and no play! LOL

Shopping yesterday - saw LOTS of stuff - bought NO stuff. She wants to be sure. Can't blame her - tight money crunch. She's financially responsible that way and I'm glad. Spend the entire day looking - didn't get home to my house till 3:30, made a quick BBQ meal then DH, youngest DD, and I went BACK to Vineland (where I'd just came from) to go see the annual Classic Car Show - "Drive Down Memory Lane". Approx. 1,800 very very cool cars let me tell you. Everything from Model T's to street rods. We parked at one end walked one side of the street, then back down the other to our car - I think it was 3 miles total (1.5 each way). Nice long stroll of about 2 hrs, busy looking. DH says his heart rate got up just fine. by looking and salavating!

Last nights BBQ dinner was simply a pork chop (one for each of us) - unseasoned - cooked slowly to grill makes on each side, then I added a nice sized table spoon of Paul Newmans Mango Salsa. Spred it around and continue to grill till chops are done. Very very tasty. Had applesause and grilled onions & fresh zucchini (in a foil packet sprayed with PAM spray, salt, pepper) on the side.

I treated myself to a cotton candy at the car show. I haven't had one in a couple of years. Shared it with DD. the taste. I did drink a lot of water yesterday. Ate sensibly and the silver god today rewarded me with a 2lb loss! Says I'm down to 176.0. Let's see how long this lasts. LOL.

OK - off to get more coffee, head to my dads for about 2 hrs of work - then home to dig a whole in my yard....

M.

Bkft: Almond crunch natural cereal w/1%milk and coffee
Lunch: tuna salad on tomato/basil tortilla is planned
Dinner: I think I'll defrost a steak to grill w/side salad

Good morning BEST s (boy, lt's hard to type with a huge doggy on your lap!!)

I guess I'm not OP as it's almost 11:00 and I've yet to eat!! I did drink two glasses of water and I'm planning to go walk the beast in a few hours.

I'm finding it very difficult to not add salt to me food, as I have a very keen "salt tooth": last night, before I had a chance to stop myself I had added salt to my spaghetti sauce twice And DH said he found it too salty.... it just felt tasteless to me I'll keep working on it as I know this is very important for my own good.

((((Fran)))) I hope your DH finds a new job soon In the meantime, I understand how hard it must for your girls to cope when he's away most of the time

((((Melissa)))) I don't know where you get all your energy!!! I'm exhausted just reading your posts

Sunny Sunday! 11 Jun

Greetings everyone! Another cold, breezy June day.........I am beginning to think that it is April around here. Not much going on today as of yet. Just had a nice breakfast that will hold me for quite awhile. Hope to get in a walk later on and drink lots of water as I was not up to par yesterday . Have no clue what the rest of the day will be food wise but I will make mindful choices.

Fran, here's hoping your DH finds a new job real soon.

Dany, hang in there sweetie!

Melissa, you are such a good mom to your DD's.

Speaking of DD's........my DD just became an aunt as her SIL had her fourth child last Sunday. His name is Matthew and he is a real cutie! I hope this puts the "baby bug" in her ear and she graces us with a grandchild real soon. One can only hope!

Emily

Happy Sunday, ladies!
Fran, good luck for Dh to get a nearby job that fulfills his wants and needs! I can relate to the long commute. How far do you live from London? It seems like it must be hours!? My commute is only 50 minutes and I pass the time with books on Cd from Audible.com but commuting still takes a huge chunk of time out of my day! I hope you will enjoy having him around more!!

Melissa, I am so tempted by the cotton candy that seems to be in all the stores now. I have not given in yet, am holding off, but I know it'll get me one of these days!

Dany, I'm sorry you are going through this withdrawal. I gave up salt back in 1980 for some reason, I think it was to support a friend who wanted to do it. It was difficult for a while, but then the natural flavors started coming through and it was no longer an issue. I still add salt to steak and to potatoes, but almost nothing else. it will get better, I promise you. Can you use the tasteless situation to prevent overeating? If only I didn't like the taste of my food...

Emily, I sure hope you get around to having your grandbaby soon. I'm in no rush, thank you. I'm still in the process of adopting my 30-y.o. daughter!

Ah, today has been busy again. I ran to the folks this morning to get Dad up and dressed and give him breakfast. My mother was able to use her time to dress and get ready for some company later on today. I came home and am just catching up on email and BEST, and then will go back over there to meet the company. These are some people who lived around the corner from my parents in Florida and who have moved just 30 miles away, an easy 30 minute drive. Sheesh, they are almost as close to my folks as I am. I live only 7 miles but it's a 20 minute drive, no matter how many shortcuts I try

It's hot and sunny here, dry, not desert-like but definitely summery. I found myself thinking it would be nice to have a pool but gosh, I don't have time to sleep, and I don't like the water, so what came over me to think of a pool? Those brains of mine are acting up again!

Off to take a quick nap before the next shift. I must say again, my family has been wonderful and my parents are very appreciative of the time I spend with them. They are sweet and I enjoy every minute with them.

So have a great day everyone, and see you tomorrow!!

Hi
Thanks for all thsoe encouraging words- I do feel I've achieved something. It was so hot and I'm not so good in the heat but I did it!Been very tired and achy today though - was going to the gym and just don't feel up to it.

Fran, I know just what it's like to be on your own. My DH's job has involved global travel for years. We got very much into the mummy is the one who does the boring day to day stuff and daddy was the exciting one who plays in the garden (etc). He has missed so many birthdays, parents' evenings and so on. I know I should be grateful he has a good job but.... Still, at least your DH has come to a decision and hopefully something will come up soon.

While I was racing, England won their first World Cup game to the country's delight. I only saw the last 15 minutes.

Food today has been very good-
b/f- fruit and wholemeal toast
lunch- turkey salad, apple
snack- few seeds and two small apricots
dinner- roast chicken and veg

Everyone seems to be having hectic weekends! Enjoy what's left of the day. It's beaautiful here again.

Hey everyone....

It's a cool, breezy day today here -- I'm probably warmer than Melissa as she's by the ocean. I've truly been enjoying this nice break in the weather!!

Just came back from taking the dogs for their walk... did the same thing yesterday. It's nice & relaxing & the breeze is great.

DH & I went to the movies today... we were good at the movies as we just had breakfast before we went... so no extra snacking. And, I stopped at the store to pick up dinner... I'm going to grill a couple of salmon pieces along with a nice tossed salad. And, I have enough food to get through the beginning of the week.

Marion... congrats on the walk... very proud of you!! Relax today and let your body get a rest.

Fran... all will work out well for DH... hope you'll enjoy having him around more

Melissa... sounds like a great weekend planned... although I'd be hard pressed to get into a pool in this weather... I'd freeze once I got out

Emily... ahhhh... grandkids.... what a joy!! I understand the anticipation.

Dany... on weaning yourself off of salt. I'm not a big salt fan at all... I actually love using other spices/herbs to flavor foods... do you have "Mrs. Dash" at your grocery store? It's a nice alternative to salt...

Llyn... has your H earned back his D yet??

It's been a nice lazy weekend... and am hoping to enjoy my book in a few.... enjoy your Sunday.

Hi All

Another unseasonably cool and rainy day here. I really wish we would start having nice weekends.

Last night we went to see The DaVinci Code and we enjoyed it. I'm not sure why the critics bashed it so much. I wish I could break myself of the movie popcorn habit but last night it was not to be.

Today has been OP - whole grain plain waffles and a banana for breakfast and sliced turkey for lunch. D Is earning his H back by making dinner tonight.

Desk you saying you might want a pool cracked me up.
Fran I hope your DH finds a job he loves close to home.
Dany good luck with staying away from salt. I have a much harder time doing with no salt than sugar so I know how you feel.
to all of you.

Gotta go take Gypsy out

Hi Everyone

I did most of what I had planned. Went to dad's for about 2.5 hrs. No real heavy work - just sorting, bagging up trash, making a path thru the shed. He helped. I can't stand it that I just might actually throw something out.

Home to my yard and DH and I got a small project done. Only took about 30 minutes, but now the old wooden swing/play area is totally down and ready for the trash pick up. Just need to convince another man that not every scrap of wood needs to be saved. My gosh men are funny creatures. The packrat gene must be genetically inbred into the male species.

Found another tiny leak in the pool. I am not sure it will make it thru the summer at this rate. I'm not jumping in anytime soon to fix it either. LOL
Desk - just think about that everytime your mind begins to play tricks on you telling you that you just have to have a pool....

Food today only changed what I posted earlier to hamburgers on the grill. I ate 1/2 a burger w/bun. Tasted so good with fresh tomato, lettuce, and onion. Had a pickle spear and green olives? LOL - talk about salt Dany - just what I don't need. LOL.

Sue - I should have been a bit more clear. I had the pool pump turned on to clear out the leaves, your right, wayyyyyy too cold to swim. I'd be a popcicle. I hate to waste the electricity, but there's no helping it.

Marianni - I can't believe you'd consider going to the gym after your walk yesterday? LOL - I'd still be laying in a hot tub or in bed at this point I think. LOL.

Fran - Can't say I blame your DH for hating that long commute. I would also. I always felt like a single parent for years. DH was in the Marine Corps, then worked night shift for many many yrs. Was never here it seemed and mom was "in charge" of everything. Actually just the thoughts of him retiring and being here all the time is frightening!

Llyn - I've heard everyone who's seen that movie enjoyed it. I plan to take DD after school is out on Tuesday. Make an evening of it with her and DH. We usually go to a lite dinner first - then skip the popcorn.

Desk - I have it a bit easier than you do - my dad only lives a block away so I walk over unless I need the car for something. I really enjoy my dad also - he's a pretty cool dude!

Emily - would you please put that statement in writing and mail it to EACH of my DD's? I'm not sure they realize it no matter how often I tell them.

Dany - energy? Nope not me, lol. Now if I had what I consider energy, I'd never be behind in everything. LOL -

OK - off to take off my boots and mabye spend some time with DH on the couch in front of the boob tube. I wasted too much time playing mindless games of spider solitare on the computer! LOL

Good evening BEST s

Today turned out to be a pretty OP day and one where I took two long walks with the dog. I'm going to spoil the little monster and he'll expect this everyday.

I even managed to stay away from the salt and I'm pretty proud of myself. I did try Mrs. Dash in the past, but don't like it much: doesn't taste like salt I'll look for a product called Morton Lite Salt that someone else recommend. Hopefully, they have it in Canada

((((Emily)))) Hopefully your DD will have the baby bug

((((Llyn)))) I was wondering about The DaVinci Code as DH is fascinated by such topics and has been longing to go. We may go during our vacations, in a few weeks
