what happens at the pre-op exam?

What do they do to you when you go for your pre-op appointment? You don't have to have a pelvic exam do you? I don't think I could stand that. Is it just blood work and questions?

what happens at the pre-op exam?

Sounds to me like it depends from princess to princess and doc to doc. Mine consisted of watching a dvd about my procedure (a touch screen interactive dvd that also handily prints out papers for me to sign so that they have documented that I understand what I am doing!), talked with my doc in great detail reviewing everything (no pelvic exam) and basic vitals. That was it. The castle requires bloodwork no more than 7 days before you arrive, my doc pefers day of surg, so that is what I did! Easy and quick appointment for me.

what happens at the pre-op exam?

For my hyst, my pre-op was at the hospital only, as I had already gone over everything with my doctor previously. I had bloodwork and a chest x-ray, then talked to the anesthesiologist and a nurse, and basically answered the same questions over and over to different medical staff (like the above anesth & 2 nurses). That was it! And, I had to register before I went to the lab for bloodwork and all that, just signed my papers and gave them my ins. card.
No pelvic exam was required at the hospital, nor with my doctor when I saw him about a week before to go over the procedure.
It was all pretty easy, and painless, just kind of a long wait, I was there about 3 hours because I had to go register, then wait to be called for labwork, then wait to go to x-ray, then wait to talk to the anesth - so mostly just waiting, but it really wasn't that bad!
Hope this helps you! Don't stress too much over it - it's pretty smooth sailing. I just brought a book - it helped keep my mind off everything and helped the time pass.

Good luck!
Love, Christina

what happens at the pre-op exam?

My Pre-op was blood work and pre-admin to hosp. (giving ins. information etc.) I got my admin bracelet to the hosp that had my name on it and numbers... must be to matched with blood work. I was told do not forget it the day I come to the hosp. It was nice because the morning of, I walked in, and was led straight to the room I waited in before surgery.

what happens at the pre-op exam?

My pre-op was about the same, combination of Christina and Lisa. I went to the hospital. We did bloodwork, answer questions, check current med's and spoken to the anest.. got my band. One difference was that I did have a pelvic exam at the doctors office. He wanted to make sure he could do a TVH and not a TAH. I didn't want to be cut, if possible. The healing time is slower. Please don't worry, it is really simple and yes, bring a book to past the time, as stated.
P.S. Ask what kind of anest. med's you may receive. I was not very tolerate and it made me very sick. If you have a low tolerance for pain meds, this is the time to let them know up front.

what happens at the pre-op exam?

I got my pre-op at the doctor - urine test, EKG, bloodwork, and a physical. I actually found out today that my urine test showed a UTI, so now I'm on antibiotics and my surgery is Wednesday.

what happens at the pre-op exam?

My pre-op was mostly paperwork and a little lab work. Very few of my questions were answered. No vag exam.
