Anyone else NOT get antibiotics post op?

Hi all. This is my first post although Ive been a faithful reader since I got home from my surgery last Thursday. I had LAVH and kept my ovaries. I had a girlfriend who had the same surgery last year and said that her doctor sent her home with antibiotics as a preventative measure. My doctor sent me home with pain meds and basically said "I'll see you in 4 weeks."

Well now my belly button incision looks a little red, no swelling or oozing but Im wondering if it is the usual practice to send you home with anti-biotics?

I did not get antibiodics either, and I got a severe bladder and kidney infection due to latex cath (allergic to latex dr knew it). I think drs should send you home with these,it would save alot of suffering and problems.

It said in the pre-op lit that I would get anti-biotics. When in the castle and post-op at home, I had none.

I had them in my iv during surgery, but not since then. No problems with infection, but I was concerned that I didn't have them after surgery too. Janet
