Tummy Tuck AFTER Hysterectomy

I was hoping to get a tummy tuck and my hysterectomy (20 week size uterus and 8 large fibroids) at the same time. I will be getting a vertical incision. Due to scheduling conflicts between my ob/gyn and my plastic surgeon and my need to return to work by a certain date, this is not going to happen. I even consulted with other plastic surgeons in my area and was told "we do not do tummy tucks in conjuction with hysterectomies."

My question is has anyone had a tummy tuck after their hysterectomy? If so how long did you wait between surgeries? What was the recovery time associated with the tummy tuck? What was the recovery process like for the tummy tuck? And was the tummy tuck worth the money? Thank you.

Tummy Tuck AFTER Hysterectomy

Hi Tiffany,

I'm glad you asked that question. I saw my doc today to confirm that I do, indeed, need a hysterectomy due to extensive damage from endometriosis. She and I talked briefly about the tummy tuck, but I have to talk to a plastic surgeon to get the real nitty gritty. If I have it done, it will be done immediately following the hysterectomy.

One thing my gyn did say is that the recover from the tummy tuck is longer and more painful than having a hysterectomy "straight." She said the incision she'll be making is only about six inches long, while the tummy tuck would go hip to hip (!!!).

There are lots of photos of tummy tucks online, but I found the info to be overwhelming and will save my questions for the plastic surgeon. If I learn anything soon I'll let you know.

*Best always*
