Questions about rectocele repair?

Ok-Have a loooong question and if you don't feel like reading....it's ok--just turn to something else.
The prolapse I have is getting owrse. Now the bulge in the back vaginal wall is "popping" out all the time. I called my DD and he said, honey, if the pain gets severe and you land in the hospital from it, I will do the surgery at 3 am if I have to , but I'm sorry I jsut don't have time in my schedule to do it before June 4th. Your only other option is finding another DD.
I said NO! I hace heard too many wonderful things about you from your patients and do not want to change. He said-(Here's the beginning of the question!)-"You might not feel that way after I repair your rectocele! They tend to be painful. But I'll do my best at not letting you feel the pain.":eek
OK___Here it is--Just how painful is it? Is it anything like an episiotomy repair when you rip clear through to the back? I have done that!
So much for the calm feeling I was just about to catch on to!
I am more worried about that pain then the hyster! I have had pain for so long in the pelvic region that I assume it won't be any huge deal. Maybe just a little big one!
Here's hoping!!! God Bless
Peanut
PS-Not going back to correct my spelling errors! Sorry!

Questions about rectocele repair?

{{{Peanut}}} I know EXACTLY how you feel: when I was a I was a lot more concerned about the rectocele repair than the actual hyst.

I had a TVH and the rectocele was repaired through the vagina. Then, stitches were added to the perineal area in order to solidify the whole pelvic floor.

I'll be honest: when I woke up, that was the only pain I felt. However it wasn't that bad. I don't know if it was like your episiotomy pain, since I only had a few stitches for both my deliveries - amazing since both of them were over 9 lbs!! - and the pain was minimal. The posterior repair did hurt more than THAT. However, that pain never got over a 2 on a scale of 1 to 5.

All in all, those stitches we sore for about a week. There was one that hurt a little longer, maybe another week. I used a peri-bottle, and that helped relieve the soreness a lot.

Actually, for most of the time, the pain was more an ache than an outright pain.

Because of the rectocele repair, my lifting restrictions were a little more severe: even after I was cleared to resume activities, at 6 weeks, I still wasn't allowed to lift and I was told not to strain.

Questions about rectocele repair?

Thanks Dany!
I know about peri stiches! I had 6 of them with my 10 pound baby! The dr did not do an epsiotomy and I was just too samll!
Was um...sex any better? Right now it is painful enough because of endo, but the recotcele kind of gets in the way! I was hoping after all the repairs were done, I would feel like "a new woman" again! And it would be.....nicer for my husband! (You know not so loose!)
Thanks again!

Questions about rectocele repair?

Peanut: for me sex is a whole lot better than it was pre-op, mostly because it was almost inexistant. After all, I was bleeding all the time, wasn't feeling good and my hormones were totally unbalanced and I had absolutely NO libido.

Ps: DH is certainly not complaining
