 Hi Shelly!
I know from previous posts that you mention you have a lot of pain from the cysts and endo. I have a link to a source that may be beneficial to you: ReliefInsite Pain Diary . This site offers an online pain diary to help you track your pain, the intensity, exactly where it is, etc., and allows you to print the information to share with your dr.
I know I am using the site to track my endo pain so my dr and I can decide what my next step should be. I highly recommend you check it out.
Many best wishes to you and I hope the future looks brighter for you soon!

i really want these ovaries out and since im only 29 my dr's not wanting to do it, i have so much pain all the time and i have been taking pain pills almost daily for 2 years thats not good, at this point menopause would not be fun but im thinking its gotta be better than the pain all the time, did you guys remove your ovaries? i just dont understand why they'll will take a baby out of a mother and not a sick oregon i dont understand why there are prolonging my suffering, after that laperotomy 8 weeks ago i look forward to not having a right ovary i was devastated when i woke up had been cut open and the dr didnt take it when he gave me his word, i feel so betrayed and upset i was cut for nothing i avoided being cut thats why i had a tvh and laps b4 thank you all for your advice i hope you get to feeling better

Shelly,
I am so sorry you are dealing with so much pain. I have a couple suggestions. As I mentioned above, use ReliefInsite to keep track of your pain. Then print out the information and take it to your dr so he can "see" what your pain looks like on a day to day basis. The diary allows you to show exactly where your pain is and what its intensity is, along with what makes it worse or better, and a place to keep notes. One section also lets you note if your medication is working or not. Maybe if you can show your dr that day by day you have kept notes of your pain and this is how it looks, it might help him to know how to treat you better.
However, since you feel betrayed by your dr, I highly recommend you see another GYN or reproductive endocrinologist--they often treat ladies with endo and can have some additional knowledge about endo. Check with your insurance company, your GP, or close friends for a recommendation. Find one a dr who knows a lot about treating ladies with endo. Then give them copies of the information from your pain diary as well.
Unfortunately, endo is a nasty and complicated disease. Not all drs agree to treat it the same way. I have stage IV endo and we chose for me to keep my ovaries for the benefit of my overall health. Granted, that means I deal with pain that is gradually increasing. But hormones do so much for your body that my dr and I felt I was too young at 25 to lose my ovaries. This is not the same decision others have made.
Surgical menopause is horrendous for some women, not so bad for others, but there is much more to being without your ovaries than just avoiding menopause. Find a dr who can talk to you about the pros and cons and how to help you with your situation. Terrible pain day in and day out definitely affects your quality of life and your well being. Find a dr who will help you decide what is best for you right now, and for your future.
 in there!

2 years today!
I am 2 years post op today and I honestly have to say it was the very best decision I ever made (with my doctor, of course) I was having 21 day periods at the shortest and I love not having pain, bleeding, discomfort anymore. The only problem I did have was that about 6 months post op I developed stress incontinence. I lived with that for over a year before having a monarch sling placed in March of this year. Surgery was successful! Life is good. The pain was definately worth the outcome.

Me 2!
Hi mbtaz!
My 2 yr anniversary was July 6th and I, like you, am much happier these days! ( chubbier, but definitely happier!) The first year went rather smoothly but this year there were a few obstacles to overcome. 1.) getting my Thyroid meds and bio-identical hormone levels to even out and 2.) figuring out why all of my joints ache randomly! I find that power walking on the treadmill 3-4 days a week ( along with keeping my hand out of the cookie jar) is helping with both problems...so far, so good. Here's to our continued good health and happiness!..xox, gknee-d

Happy Hysterversary!
Today is my 2 year hysterversary! I didn't go through the years of pain like a lot of the ladies on this site. I was misdiagnosed for a year and a half as having recurring urinary tract infections. I ended up in the emergency room on July 5th, 2004 in so much pain I couldn't even walk. I was taking morphine and it barely touched it. I ended up having a TAH/BSO on July 12th because of bilateral ovarian cysts. Except for the scar on my abdomen I don't have any real after effects of my surgery. I had already gone through menopause so that is not too big a deal for me. I did notice that the hot flashes started again after my surgery. They are pretty mild right now, maybe one or two every couple of days.

2 years post op???anyone else?
I had my 2 year anniversary May 7th. I am very happy with my decision to have the hyst. My dr told me I would probably bleed to death within a couple months if I didn't get the hyst. I don't miss those 21 day periods, awful pelvic and back pain. It is much cheaper to not have a period. LOL I have had problems with pelvic prolapses however. I had a rectocele and enterocele surgery in Jan 05. A cystocele and tvt (for stress incontinence) Sept 2005. I am once again prolapsed with a rectocele and enterocele. I had a 2 level spine fusion Oct 2005. I had bilateral nerve impingement. I have almost no feelings inside of my vagina since the 2 pelvic reconstruction surgeries. I hope to have these new prolapses fixed abdominally. Even with all of this I DO NOT REGRET HAVING MY HYST AND I WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN IF I HAD TO.
I know life will get better soon.
Peggy
