Well....the insurance said ok, and I have done all my pre-op testing. I am scheduled for Monday May 14th. The day after Mother's Day....I told my husband not to worry about a present, if he would just go to church with me on Sunday (he normally won't go with me) and then take care of me after surgery. He is taking the whole week off and then I have friends who will stop in for a few hours here and there to lend a hand during the second week.
I am so impressed with my doctor. I have spent the last couple of weeks researching hormone choices and had pretty much made up my mind...but I wasn't sure what doc would recommend. When I told her I wanted the Vivelle DOT patch, lowest dose possible, and also some estratest hs that I will experiment with as needed, possibly half a pill every other day or something along those lines (whatever my body tells me is appropriate) she said she fully agreed with my thinking and that it would probably be a very good way of going. I told her that I had already started taking a women's multi-vitamin and those viactiv chocolate calcium chews....she was very impressed that I was taking everything so seriously. She said I was making her job too easy...LOL. I figure with my age I do have to take my health seriously and be very consistent with my calcium and vitamins....I have many many years of hormone therapy ahead of me and I don't want to end up like my gramma with horrible osteoporosis.
Anyhow....I am all ready to go....been cleaning the house and doing laundry to make sure I am all caught up....I bought a couple pairs of comfy, light jammies and a light robe, a bed table/tray, and plenty of frozen juice. I even went and had my hair done...a new cut and a color weave....I figure if I will be in bed most of the time, it would be nice to at least have a 'perky' hairdo
Here is to my last week with a uterus....everyone cross their fingers for me (prayers will help too...for those who are willing).
I am hoping to bring my laptop computer with me to the hospital....I do have a webcam, so if I can convince my husband to get me all set up in my room I might be able to turn the cam on occassionally while I am in the hospital. If anyone is interested, you can always check my site:
http://www.liquescent.com/webcam late Monday night through Wednesday and see if I was able to update from the hospital at all.
